Lets wait until they know exactly what is down there but if its really the Amber Room....this would be the most important discovery of stolen art treasures of ww2.
Treasure hunters search the Amber Room since 60 years now !
I really think he is a bit naive to think that it would be declared our property.
As the nazis looted it, it was never legally their property. It was the property of the Soviet Union and as its successor state , the owner is now the Russian Federation.
They will simply demand it back without having to offer something in return stupid !
But if it should be the missing Reichsbank gold ...its all mine ehhh... ours![]()

This is the 1:1 replica that is now installed in the Catherine Palace

How would you build a room like this ?In hundreds of small pieces that get mounted on the walls, one by one, like a big puzzle. And so you just need to disassemble everything and store the parts in crates.
I very much doubt whether the Amber Room is there, since its fate was most probably to be accidentally destroyed in a fire caused by drunk Soviet troops in Königsberg after the German surrender in May 1945. See "The Amber Room" by Catherine Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy, ISBN (of my copy) 1-84354-035-5.
The KNIL is dead. Long live the KNIL!
Celeon this is indeed an exciting story to follow, but there are a lot of doubters in the hunting community about what the Germans have actually found. For one thing amber is undetectable using the technology they're using - all the know for sure is it's silver or gold. Check out This Guy - he swears that they're onto a nazi gold cache, not the amber room itelf!
Anyway, this is an awesome story to keep up on! :-)
