Thread: How confident are you this game is going to rock? | Forums

  1. #1
After seeing the achievements (hope we have similar trophies) i am more confident the game will be great fun. But as I have read elsewhere i was worried that the game will be graphical impressive but with dubious gameplay like Assassins creed. (which i haven't played so maybe i would like that) Anyway I just hope the gameplay mechanics are awesome.

It all depends on the multiplayer. . .

It's the most promising-looking game I've personally ever seen (in the shooter or action genres, rather). I have unbelievably high hopes for this game, although I'm trying to temper them so as to not form any concrete, overblown expectations of what the game will be like. Meaning, I try not to imagine what actually playing the game will be like.

It all depends on the multiplayer...
Which i agree to. Singleplayer could be an experience, but i'm in doubt in regards with the replayvalue and about the size of the map. 50 squarekilometers means a field with 7 by 7 km which isn't that huge. Surely its an improvement compared to other games and technically its an achievement. But compared to f.i. FC where you had about 20 maps with each about 1-x kilometers of distance to travel (giving you the feeling that you - at the end of the game - have covered 20 times these 1-x kilometers, so >20 km of unique terrain), for me it doesn't sound convincing.

    Imo, UBI could
    a) "force" you to travel a lot around in the map, and thus creating a much bigger route to travel during the game, but with the disadvantage, that you pass certain areas multiple times during the game, which could lessen the feeling of being in a huge world, or
    b) having the "hot spots" quite close, which seems also unrealistic (I remember one vid, where you got a task in a safe house, jumped into a car just to drive 100 m (max) and voila! mission area reached.. wtf..?!

But the story and open way of telling it, could improve the one time experience.

"Multiple Fun" and long-lasting experience could only come through multiplayer, imo. But since MP seems to be seriously crippled compared to FarCry by dropping assault (the only reason FarCry stayed on my PC (and is still played) after the first few months back in 2004) - i'm in doubt as well.

So FC2 might be a fine game and bring more one time enjoyment than watching a movie - sure .. but worth 50 bucks? I'm not preordering thats for sure..

Nice idea for a poll. i wonder what is the hype and faith levels on this forum. personally i went for option "2" - confident.

when im thinking about FC2 i am only thinking SP. MP just doesnt come to mind. i think MP will be a flop either way but the meat and potatoes will be the SP and the game will be judged by it's SP (like crysis and s.t.a.l.k.e.r before it) and if the SP will be as good as it sounds than FC2 could be anywhere between an 8.5 to a 9.3 in press reviews IMO (which is very good).

the game will probably have a shallow and hard to follow story and action sequences that are never as explosive or exciting as COD4 or Crysis (this is how it is when the action is not scripted, which is a sacrifice im more than willing to take for the sake of freedom) and it might have issues we haven't thought of yet (bad AI? too much to travel? monotonous environments? repetitive missions?) and run-at-the-mill MP. that's my predictions.

I often don't care about MP, i see it as a bonus and a bit of causal fun now and again. I never got heavily into cod4 mp.

But i am unsure as to how the 'story' will work in this game. Is it right there is no set path to follow? Does this mean the game has multiple endings? How many? Or does the game end even?

I'm also curious on how the single player will turn out, along with its story. There are way to many multiplayer games out right now, or at least games that mp has been the main focus and that sucks for me cause Sp games that are good are few and far between now. So heres to high hopes!

UBI has taught me to not trust any video trailers they put out to hype any of their last few FPS game so I have to go with "Not confident at all until I see the final product"... but I do wish with all my heart that I am wrong on this.
