Yea I watched the whole thing today. I had it on mute the other day because the TV was on, so I didn't know what was going on. The electronics hacking seems kind of annoying to me, as does the rescuing people, but it might work. Too much extra, not fun stuff. It looks like you can drive based on the wider views of the city, obviously he gets in the car at the end of the mission, but that could be scripted because of the drawbridge part. The graphics style is more of what I wanted from DSF, deeper colors, not necesarily darker. And its set in Chicago! Hopefully Reflections is doing the driving part, but from what I read they're only doing level design and production.

I thought you would be impressed with the gameplay, but I guess I was wrong. Sure, it's a bit different from most open world games, but that's exactly what makes its concept so great. If all goes well, the gadgets should be a ton of fun to use. I was skeptical about DSF, too, at first, with its shift mechanic, but my opinions of it completely were turned around after I got a chance to experience it for the first few hours or so.

Also, did you check out the gameplay video(s) of Dishonored that I listed in my last post? Now that game looks like it really has a lot of potential to be the next Bioshock, Fallout 3, or Deus Ex: Human Revolution in gaming. If you've played any of the Deus Ex games, Bioshock games, or Thief games before, you will instantly find this game to be a great homage to those games. It's being made by two incredibly talented game designers, one which worked on great action-/shooter-RPG hybrids (on the PC), like Deus Ex, System Shock (before there was Bioshock), Arx Fatalis, etc.

I really hope that Reflections will take whatever things they've learned from working on Watch Dogs and somehow applies those great features to the next Driver game. Likewise, it would be awesome to have nearly as much freedom in an open world mission structure as Dishonored displayed in its wide, open-ended levels. And, within Tanner's coma or dreams, Reflections could technically grant Tanner more powers, other than just shift, but they would have to feel unique, right at home, and be really balanced, too.

Back before DSF, some forum members came up with the idea for Tag Mode. How we thought it should work would be in free roam, you can tag a car and it will either run from you or chase you (I suppose depending on which button you held while you tagged it, this way every crash doesn't result in a chase, though I wouldn't mind that). This way you can have any combination of car chase possible, even without police!!!

How it ended up working in DSF is as a multiplayer game, which is great fun from my limited online play. For those of us who can't play online, tag mode seemed to carry over to free roam, in that you have to tag a cop to give chase (or is it get chase?), which as everyone knows is annoying, just make the cops classic style, chase you for felonies, and let us toggle cops on/off during shift mode. Also the only way to chase someone is by tagging them while in a cop car.

A bit of a side note, I get why, but please make fire trucks and ambulances able to be chased by cops. Other cop cars too.

Anywho, back to my main point, finally:

    Single Player Tag Mode
Tag mode can be combined with shift to avoid unnecesary car bumping. While in shift mode, you can tag cars to chase or evade you. Another idea I had was being able to tag random cars with felony points, starting with one (I'm thinking the number would appear above the car flashing red and blue), keep tagging the car and the number climbs, this number corresponds to the number of cops chasing it. This is also a great way to get the exact car chases you want with the cars used in movies, or just something you wanted to see.

I just had another idea, maybe use shift mode to make other cars race you? Drag race? I don't know, more on that some other time... maybe

As far as I know tag already existed in Driver 2 multiplayer, no?

I thought it would have been also funny in DSF if there was two tag modes: one like the current one, where you're being chased, and another one which would be based more on the game we used to play as kids. You got tagged, so you got to tag someone else, and everyone will run away from you! This should be done in an enclosed area like in some of the multiplayer games, and without shift, otherwise it would be too easy.

Then, I don't know exactly how the point system should work. Maybe like a point system that does not increase but decrease, from 100 to zero and as long as you've been tagged, your points will drop. All players with 0 points get eliminated and this would get down to only 2 players at the end. But it would probably upset many players. So maybe a better system here, like points decreasing aswell (from say 250) and the first with zero is the winner. That would make you want to tag a specific person to avoid them winning!

You know, the Wii D:SF has exactly that: two tag-like games set in enclosed arenas. One involving a bomb, has whoever's 'it' trying to chase down the other car to transfer the bomb to them. The other one was some sort of moneybag thing, where the longer you held it the more cash you'd accumulate, so in this case whoever is 'it' tries to stay as far from the other driver as possible.

As for Driver 2- Capture the Flag was like D:SF's tag- there was only one flag, and contact with another car transferred the flag. You still had a goal for each player to try and bring the flag to, though.
What the next DRIVER needs: Tighter, narrower streets for slower, more responsive cars as seen in D1,2,3. More 70s feel, possibly the entire game's setting. Keep 88mph top speed as the norm, with only bonus supercars going beyond. Get rid of Burnout as the default acceleration. Unlicensed Vehicles- so that they can be destroyed with explosions. On foot returning, with a version of shift as an unlockable. Weapons, with FPS controls like D3, only more polished. Hubcaps. Car underside pouncing. Offroad areas without invisible walls. All previous driver game cheats return plus a few surprises. All camera angles in D1 Film Director returning. Completely overhauled multiplayer, with virtually no 'boosting'. Finally, ability to play multiplayer offline, and with bots.

Failing that, D1 and 2 as fully emulated games unlockable within Driver 6.

Ha didn't know about DSF Wii Tag!

And I guess the tag in DSF is like a mix of capture the flag in Driver 2 and DSF

By the way, another thing that would have been cool. Has any one of you watched the simpson episode where abe steals homers car and goes street racing with it? There's a moment where they do a "death race" which is located in a place that reminds me of that Embankment dam in Los Santos San Andreas (near Ganton). Basically they were driving in that sort of huge canalisation (dry) and at the end there was like some sort of tunnel which only had the place for one car. The other driver crashed into the wall and his car exploded. It's hard to describe but what I see in my head would just so perfectly fit DSF, especially with those old muscle cars, a death race would be fantastic!

I think that the proper way to build on to what tag mode offered in DSF would be to let the AI react in different ways to you, not necessarily meaning that it would always give way to a chase between you and another vehicle. Obviously, we might have to see on foot return for this to be implemented in an even more interesting way.

I'm done with Just Cause 2's story mode, so there's absolutely little-to-no incentive for me to continue playing it. And for what it's worth, I did enjoy it. Though, I wouldn't call it a great game. If anyone's interested, I've got a review of it up on GameSpot now: http://www.gamespot.com/just-cause-2...eviews/797195/

Believe me, compared to Just Cause 1- JC2 is a downright masterpiece. I'd have to disagree with your review in some places though- it's not the kind of game that even needs things like customisation or multiplayer- it's a completely different beast. The game is so chock full of easter eggs that exploring becomes it's own reward if you do enough of it, though I see where you're coming from about the game being too big for the content. It made a **** good effort to cram in enough stuff to fill it, though. As you say, the grappling hook is fun to use- it's on par with tearing around the streets of D:SF in your favourite ride.

One other thing you mentioned, and I see a lot of this, is that people complain about the story and voice acting in the game. What they don't seem to realise is considering the tone and story the game has, the character acting is perfect for what the game is going for- it's half James Bond, half Desperado, and the game most certainly knows it, and all the characters run with it. I wouldn't have it any other way!

My main gripes are that the vehicle handling hasn't been improved over JC1- the cars still don't grip the ground enough, and the planes can't yaw. I also think it's one of those games where you shouldn't dash through the story because, as you've said- the incentive drops when you finish the story. They have that chaos meter to encourage you to explore and wreak mayhem in between missions, and have a lot of destructive fun in general without being too tied to the story. I'm actually trying to avoid agency missions as long as I can for this reason.

All told, it's not a marathon game. It's the perfect 'pick up and play for 20 minutes' game. I can see myself still chipping away at it a good 10 years from now, and in my book, a game that keeps me intereseted for that long is a good game.

Crash Time 5: Undercover is an upcoming Driver Style game as you also play as cop and go freeroam in openworld.
And there we can have explosions and good car damage, weapons etc.. Why? : Because they use real cars but they left them unlicensed (look at the photo) thats what Driver should had done and hope to see it in the next Driver.

(by the way it also has full off-road.) Also check Crahs Time 4 for PS3, XBOX360, and PC. The bad thing is that Crash Time series doesnt have a good story, so mixing this game with some Jericho stuff would make it perfect.
