or lack thereof.
I have a feeling that there was absolutely zero research done for this game. Either that or they chose to be "cool" over what's real in some parts, which would be too bad because realism is part of what gave rainbow six it's popularity and roots.
I'd like to make a thread to point out the unrealistic things that bother you in this so-called "realistic" game. We all know that as long as people are buying Rainbow Six games, there will be more of them. So please ubisoft, consider this constructive criticism for the next game.
I'll go first:
Damage bars If a gun is in 5.56x45 Nato, and another gun is in 5.56x45 Nato, than they should have the exact same damage rating, because they both fire the same cartridge. All guns of the same calibre will do the same amount of damage. As for the other bars, Range would be dependent on barrel length and Penetration would likely be the same as range if you were using the same ammo.
To keep things simple, next time there should only be two stats: accuracy in MOA (minute of angle, standard measurement of accuracy. Basically how many inches at 100 yards) and caliber.
Iron Sights It is so blatantly obvious, that I'm just going to make it as dead simple as possible. Some are right in the game, some are wrong for some reason.

UMP .45. This submachine gun has a bolt hold open feature. Why the character pulls the bolt to the top and lets it go instead of hitting the bolt release is beyond me. Yeah it looks cool and all, but the reload would be about twice as fast, and it would be nice if it was done right. (No it's not a real UMP. It's a semi-only USC/UMP conversion. Tonnes of fun at the range
)
WRONG:
RIGHT:
Last shot fired, bolt automatically holds open
Hit bolt release
Bolt closed
Reflex Sight. The C-More sight they use is right... just that nobody uses them. They are junk. They break easy, are susceptible to harsh environments (no cover for the lens and dot filament), and are difficult to sight in because they don't have a click adjustment. It's a slide adjustment. Special forces use Aimpoints and Eotechs mostly, but I've seen/heard of the Zeiss Z-point, the trijicon reflex, meprolight, and the Elcan sights used on occasion.
Laser Sight I didn’t know this was star wars… looks like a light sabre!! The only sight that leo/military use is infrared pointing sights combined with night vision. A laser sight will get you killed. Some police forces use them in situations where they want to let the bad guy know he’s about to get shot. But hey if your going to go ahead and use one anyways, you could at least do it right.

AKS-74U -This is 5.45X39, not 7.62
Why the obscure handguns? Nobody uses the D.Eagle. The ammo is too expensive, the handgun it too big, and it has always had reliability issues. Why the Raging Bull? A revolver? Are you serious? All these pistols and the P226 is left out. It’s one of the top pistols used by special forces around the globe. In Eastern Europe, the CZ 75B and the CZ SP-01 gets lots of use as well.
Gun Design - come on! did you use xbox 1 models for the guns?
Look at the detail in the receiver. What artistry:
Yup, last time I checked the P99 had nothing in the back...
