Sony Europe president: 80GB PS3 not worth it

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">"You know, the difference between 60 and the 80 gigabyte is very small. We just feel that going up 20 gigabyte is not worth it." </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Anyone get the feeling that Sony Corp. might not be too happy with their European chief?

Well, considering they're trying to phase out the 60GB versions of the PS3 currently. No this probably wasn't the wisest decision to make.

I tend to look at his comments as being specific to what he thinks about doing this in Europe. Typically when he is answering these questions in interviews he is being asked specifically if Europe will be seeing an 80 GB version and he is being candid saying he doesn't see the point.

Edit: I think the package that SCEE is putting together is much better anyways, a second controller and 2 games instead of 20 GB and 1 game.

I so don't get this guy. It's almost as though he views SCE as a competitor rather that Sony Europe's PARENT COMPANY. Makes you wonder where Sony gets their executives from...

I'm sure Sony would have rather he said that in a CLOSED DOOR meeting of the 'heads'.

Isn't it refreshing to hear an executive for a console maker be realistic publicly, instead of giving the obvious snowball statement????

I mean, a dose of honesty never hurts. Who cares what Sony thinks. A standing 'O' is in order here.

I think they need to worry more about getting games out instead of stupid things like this.

If there were more games out for the ps3 I may actually buy one.

I wonder what the % of broken ps3 is to the 360?

That's funny just thinking about it.

If higher ranking officials make statements stuff like this, it really says something about Sony's current state. Get some games out and make the damn 80 GB console worth it
