Thread: Noob with Question about in game chat | Forums

  1. #1
    Hey everyone,

New here, and I have a question about talking to your teammate while in a game. When you hit RB and talk to your teammate.... I don't see the point because the enemy can hear you too. Is there anyway to talk JUST to YOUR teammate, and not transmit to other players as well???? Preferably without muting people and turning down my mic volume.

I am totally baffled as to why they would make it so when you talk, you talk to everyone. What is the point? I want to plan stuff with my ally.... not share our tactics with the enemy.

    Thanks a lot!

Sorry I should have been more clear. I meant while in a private match. My friends and I wanted to do a 2v2 and we could hear each other.

classic noob mistake, its ok though you didnt know, im a pro so heres a tip:

try using the mute button on your mic, its a great way to keep the enemy from hearing you, and all you have to do is call your friend on his cell phone and talk to him on that.

I'm not sure if you have XBOX live or PSN but...
On xbox live there's a function called private chat in which you invite in a friend and only communicate with them, whilst playing the game.

This can be accessed via pressing the big X button that you use to turn on the controller and then following the prompts to invite your friend =]

    Hope this has helped.

    Thanks for the responses.

The problem with private chat is that your friend and you can hear each others commands. obviously I don't care if my friend heres me issue commands, but it gets very annoying, non stop talking on both sides.

Private chat will likely disable voice commands anyway.

The best way to go about having a private match would be for one side to mute the other side which will close the lines of communication to the enemy.

    Not really optimal, but alas.

Please see the above link. I brought this same topic up a week ago and it was moved to the technical forums. There is an answer from a endwar developer on the second page. While i may disagree with why they chose to do it this way, at least he explains the thought process behind it.
