Thread: "perfect" blackness | Forums

  1. #1
    Hi,
I've just completed my new rig and re-loaded FB+AEP+PF with all patches. FPS is in the 100's but when I select "Perfect" mode, all scenery (earth/sky/sea), goes pitch black. The cockpit is normal but outside, nothing. When I switch back to "excellent", it all comes back.

Am I missing some or other setting? A .cfg edit needed? Please advise.

    The system:
    AMD64 X2 4800+ CPU
    Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe mainboard
    ATI Radeon X1900XTX GPU
    AOpen 700w PSU
    2GB Corsair XMS RAM
    OS: Windows XP Home

for perfect you need to use resolution x32 setting.
    opengl
    use stencil buffer

check your il2 setup for settings. that happened to me once...very freaky.

Using x32 setting & opengl, will check stencil buffer. Thanks.

In the IL2 Setup program, go to the Video tab and select the card out of the list that is closest to your card.

Then select "Custom" in the list, and youll see what it selected when you set that. Leave them. It fixed my issues with blackness, with water 2.

Thanks. Mmm... I could have chosen the wrong card. The generic "ATI Radeon" seemed likely because obviously mine is not listed. Might play with "ATI Radeon 9700" and "custom" and see if it makes a difference.

You need to select the X800/9800/ect from the drop down menu and close. Reopen and select custom form the drop down menu. See Coasties explanation and reccommendations here: http://www.angelfire.com/ultra/coastie0/IL2setup.html

You should be running one of the newer cats, 6.xx

Sorted thanks. Wow, 1st time I've been able to play the Pearl Harbour defence single mission without heavy stutters, smooth as glass! Very cool.
