Thread: Ok, so how do I get my custom ranked matches back?? (Hosting) | Forums

Well, Im no computer whiz and I cannot get custom maps working with the new server. Well, I can, but gor some reason it picks about 6 of the 15 maps I have and drops the rest.

So what am I missing? I made a mapcycle.cfg file and executed it in-game; it took off and acted like it worked, but it most definitely did not.

I think you need to be using the dedicated_server.cfg that is generated the first time you run the new server app. Additionally you must launch the dedi server from the command line, if you want it to use your dedi server cfg. There is a serverlauncher readme in the bin folder that may be of use.

Hope that helped, I am new and know FA about how this game worked in .02

Yes, that is the file that contains the map cycle I beleive. I cannot open nor edit that file. I dont know how to get my maps on it is the problem.

Also, theres a new problem: My server doesnt even show up now. It executes, says its in the lobby, then its not there when I try to join. I see every other server that was there before has their custom maps, and I'd like to be back in buisness.

Editk its in player match, which is where I assume I make the changes I need

Open it in Wordpad. That maintains the formatting so you can see what the hex is going on.

nice

Also, i needed this

SetSetting detectPublicAddress 0

to be able to connect to my server, which is behind a router.

Ok, i got it open with notepad....it just looks like directions to me. I will try entering a map I have and see if it works.

It was more difficult because I could not simply right-click and edit it; I had to manually browse and find my notepad to do it.

This is the dedicated_server.cfg file in Documents>MyGames>FarCry2>Server, right?

Seems like min players can't be set in the config file, the server launcher ignores that.

The console setsetting command can do it tho, so I added these to my punkbuster setup:

pb_sv_task 5 20 setsetting minplayers 16
pb_sv_task 291 300 setsetting minplayers 2
pb_sv_task 40 120 say Start on 16 players.
pb_sv_task 45 120 say Each 5 min start on 2 players.

This means that the game will be set to 16 and there will be a 14-second window for launch on min 2 roughly every 5 mins.

To do a forced start just login to your server and do "admin_setsettings minplayers 2"

This change to the game system really hurt us, either people will have to do what I did above, or we are going to have hordes of servers that play with only 2 of the "gogogogogogogo" dudes.

yes, that is very helpful. I have used it for team shuffle and messages before. I do need to know what I need to do to the dei.cfg file. I got it to launch a player match without my maps but it did have my server name as I entered it into the file. I changed it to ranked and tried again. No go. Oops, forgot PB. Enabled that in that dedicated_server.cfg file. Now the server launches but just disappears after it goes through its scrolling.
