Thread: Terrorists/Freedom Fighters Attack Chinese Police | Forums

  1. #1
Picked this up at another website:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/7540138.stm

No doubt the beginnin of the Olympics was a strong motivator for this attack. We don't hear much about this in the west.

I know the Chinese are especially sensitive to protests occuring during opening and closing ceremonies at the Olympics and Paralympics. Identification requirements are much more stringent at those events than for most competitions.

I have no doubt the government of China will take any and all steps they deem necessary to make sure something like this doesn't happen during the games. The larger question is whether at home troubles with these type of groups will change their support for other Muslim extremists in other locales?

<span class="ev_code_yellow">*EDIT - Thread title edited as the news article does not support it, see quote below (source: linked news article)*

China has spoken in the past of what it calls a terrorist threat from Muslim militants in Xinjiang, but it has provided little evidence to back up its claims, says the BBC's Daniel Griffiths in Beijing.

Perceptive, what exactly is BS? The BBC article, D1J1's comments (one or two I don't agree with either) or what?

I hope the games go off ok.

BS is his initials, not his comments, lol.
"The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.[Europe], under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, judges and governors shall all become wolves. " - Thomas Jefferson

I tend to be rather sceptical about totalitary regimes talking about "terrorist attacks", when faced with worldwide pressure to improve rights of ppl.

    He who has lied once...

I can understand that you disagree with my views. No problem there.

I don't understand what might be wrong with my initials though.
I hope the games go off well too. If for the sake of my own health if nothing else.

In public, during the games? I doubt it.

Away from the media crush.........I think the image is far too mild for the Chinese government.
