    I found the first assignment where you go in the back of the thieves guild to be assigned but i can't seem to find La Volpe so he can give me theif missions. Can someone tell me how to resolve this?

    Interact with the table. Once you've done that, different thief missions should appear around the world map. I hope that answers your question.
