I think the books are the cannon and the games are the money makers. The story in the book series is way better as it should be as it is only story not a game with a story on the side.

The games are canon. It's a video game series, the books are just spin offs imo.

Books are a better way to tell a story. But since i've never got the patience lately to read a book i'll just play a game instead

Agreed. If the series started as a game, then the games are the buildingground and canon.

I just hate when game developers expect us to read the books and watch the movies/tv-shows. This mainly means Halo. After Halo2 the things have gotten just more and more confusing if you haven't read the books.

I haven't read neither Halo or SC books, but I doubt they are that amazing

Books tell a better story - that's the only thing they're supposed to do.

Games often have weaker stories, since most of the focus goes on the gameplay.

If you're just after a story the books are the way to go. If you want to get immersed and really feel like you're a part of the story (albeit a weaker one), games are better.

The games run circles around the books in every way IMO.

I'm a few chapters into the 2nd book now and I've gotten completely fed up with the cheesy hollywoodness of the writing.
Frankly it's boring and doesn't remind me of the game at all. Not in action, stealth, characters or enjoyment.

I still intend to finish the book thought... after all, I finished the 1st one and I think it was worse.

The books are terribly written and do a horrible job at conveying anything close to Tom Clancy's technically thrilling writing style.

They're all far too Hollywood, far too Bond and really portray Sam out of character IMO.

I haven't read the new ones and something tells me, from what I've heard, that I really haven't missed much.

I did start reading Rainbow Six recently again though, as well as Without Remorse.

If only Tom Clancy had of written the SC novels.

My local library has Without Remorse, I hear it's pretty good, I might pick it up next time I'm in town... not that I have the time to read it at the moment LoL.
