Well, I was waiting for my bus to University the other day when I walked into the game store next to the bus stop and saw this brand new on the shelf pretty much. I thought it looked alright and might turn out to be a decent purchase so I bought it and went off to Uni. Upon coming home I sped to my desk and installed the game. The game turned out to be a mixed blessing, mixed in that it was basically an Age of Mythology/Warcraft 3 game called Settlers. The only thing linking this game to the Settlers of old was that it was made by Bluebyte. So I decided to play the game as if I expected nothing from it and to be honest I was rather pleased. The style of game may well be tried and tested, but I found the music and storyline rather interesting, the terrain too was also of high quality to me. So while not being of the replayability of the Settlers of old (esp Settlers 2 IMHO), I still don't think I've wasted my money on this purchase. Now, if Bluebyte really want my praise, a re-release of Settlers 2 that runs decent on XP without DOSbox and also supporting LAN/Internet multiplay. If that wish of mine came true, I'd die happy tommorow (while playing said game of course :P). Now to cure my micromanagment urge, I also happened to get Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 at the same time. Anyway, has then been any whispers of an expansion for this game? A map editor would have been nice, but with big game owning companies pushing releases I can understand if Bluebyte didn't get around to making one suitable for end users.
