Yesterday afternoon I had serious recognition problems, because the low winter sun lit up my room too much. I couldn't even push the starter b uttons in the main menu of YSFE 2012. After I had drawn white socks over my hands, the detection worked relatively well.
In the evening I tried, whether the "white-sock trick" also has a positive effect on the cardio boxing problem, even if the room is lit by artificial light. For this I equipped both my hands and feet with white socks. Than I run the lesson four times. During the first two times I wore the socks on hands and feet. The third time I wore them only on my feet and the fourth time I wore no socks, neither on hands nor on feet.
The results for the 12 minute sessions were: (1) 97% 57kcal / (2) 99% 57kcal / (3) 99% 55kcal / (4) 98% 54kcal. Thus, no significant difference was seen. But I noticed something else. For this exercise you should have a good body tension and tighten the abdominal muscles slightly. Especially when you do the forward right foot kick, one should not let the leg fall off easily, but move it in a smooth motion to the floor, so the right foot touches the ground about the same time with the trainer or a little bit later.
This morning - with artificial light - I performed the same excercise two times more: without white socks 93% 53kcal and with 94% 53kcal. Again there was no significant difference between socks and no-socks. Since the Kinect recognition in artificial light is relatively well anyway, I assume, therefore, that no more marked effect was observed.
I would appreciate feedback whether other community members did notice effects due to clothing or environmental colours and contrasts.
