Thread: Cases where gunships instantly die | Forums

As most of us know, gunships have a habit to be KIA'd much easier than other units, such as falling onto a building or uplink or over water. However, there is another case in which the gunships instantly die when they are defeated.

There is no falling gunship hitting the building or the water, what happens is that the last two gunships explode in mid-air when they should be defeated.

This happened to me once yesterday on Arrabida, where my gunships went from red-to-dead over the ground between Yankee and Zulu, and twice today to my opponent.

My theory is that they end up taking so much damage that's it's enough to label it an instant kill. But this doesn't seem to be consistent. When it happened to me only transports were firing at it. The first time to my opponent I had riflemen and combat drones attacking it. The third time there was transports, tanks, FR riflemen, and FAV's.

Anyone else have stories of gunships exploding mid-air?

I've had this happen to me many, many times. It also happens in WWIII, and in Single Player Skirmish.

First I attributed it to lag, but when I saw it happening in the single player, I realized it must be a bug of some kind.

Sometimes it'll even happen after I've told them to retreat, and after they're already in the clear. They'd be a good 2 or 300 yards away from the front lines, and then, "BOOM!" Gone...
