I just spotted this on Next-Gen. It seems to me that a full month is a long time to be pressing retail copies, but considering the number of preorders Halo 3 has probably already received, I guess it makes sense. 27 days and counting!

Hahah yeah I got this press release today and I wasn't surprised. Woo Halo.
Halo 2 went Gold on presells alone before the launch date. I think that happened a few weeks before though, not a full month.

p.s : there seems to be some confusion, the gold in the pr means that the game is finished and the discs are ready to be produced, it's not sales related.
Actually, gold in this case means, "Bob gets free time to party and drink heavily again"
