I know it's very early in the roll-out, and there will be tweaks, and I REALLY love Far Cry 2, and hope Far Cry 3 will be better. I've been waiting a long time for it, and I'm not meaning to be sounding like a downer, but this early on, I'm seeing too many graphical similarities from Far Cry 1 in there. Look at the screen shots compiled here: http://i.imgur.com/rq2hh.jpg - Far Cry 1 at top, FC2 middle & FC3 at bottom. The colors in FC2 were more realistic and NOT saturated. I'm hoping it's still early on and we'll get beyond the beta stage.

I see what you mean. It seems that Far Cry 2 has a more apparent bloom feature in it.

The art work in Far Cry 2 looked almost photographic. FC3 looks almost hand drawn like FC1 IMO. Which brings me to the point of asking ... why is that?

Yeah it bothers me a bit. I really love the art direction of FC2 since it looks much more realistic than FC1's which look too bright and cartoonish for me. FC1 was great when it came out but after playing Fc2, I couldn't stand FC1 art style anymore.

i find it quite strange youre comments about fc1 its odd when every option imaginable was there to use in the game . whether u wanted default,improved paradise(lovley),cold(dull fc2 looking like u have color blindness or gloucoma),and cartoon very bright and cheerful i will admit this is on pc as i havent seen console version options screen
also yes some models were a bit iffy but show me a title thats not got a single one

also goes for the turnips who moaned about ai
theres an option in options for ai auto balance

seems some pc users still dont get the reason why the platform is so good.

ps fc1 still defaults to high even on newer tech even if you own a 5890/nvid 480

high with very high elements on a ati 9800 pro shows just how good the game was
looks even better with the fan made texture packs at silly resolutions

plus patch 1.6 makes the game better than ever coutesy of the fc community
with no cheats online either

Idk... I like both graphically but do to locations I think the brighter color pallet looks right for a tropical island feeling. Where the browner look for Africa was a fit for that geographic location. To me it is a toss up but having a browner look I think will lose the tropical island feeling. Just look at pictures for each geographic location. Brighter blues and greens in tropical places and africa, well, is brown and has darker greens in the jungle area's.

The people look fine, maybe a little cartoon-ish, but fine.

The current graphics in FC3 in my opinion are already a huge improvement over FC2 graphics..

That's my personal opinion too - even though FC 2 had some excellent graphics, I got a little fed up of all the brown. . .


If your on a tropical island, I expect it to be bright and cheery

FC3 clearly has some amazing graphics and thing is it's only running on the 360. What's impressive is that it's being compared to Crysis with extreme quality mod on and is set to ultra graphics. Compare that to 360 which is probably on medium settings and has some color loss and we have a winner.

Edit: I think FC3 was being played on a PC I'm not really sure. Probably won't be able to see the true graphics until it comes out...
