Thread: Far Cry 2 is DirectX 10.1 | Forums

  1. #1
Fudzilla has just confirmed that Far Cry 2 will be a DirectX 10.1 game.

Our sources have just confirmed that Far Cry 2 will be a DirectX 10.1 game. We know that Nvidia has its eye on this game and that it likes it as much as it liked the original Crysis back in October 2007 but they couldn't prevent the developer to put the DirectX 10.1 support.

ATI will shortly release a hotfix driver that should boost the performance of this game of Radeon HD 4870 X2 significantly and our sources are confident that this driver should be enough to beat Geforce GTX 280 in this game.

The game should launch on Tuesday in North America and of Friday in Europe while some of the press already got their hands on this savanna shooter. DirectX 10.1 support in such a significant title is a great victory for ATI and we wonder if this implementation will give ATI some additional performance over Nvidia's DirectX 10 supporting GT200 family.

Assassins Creed was a Dx10.1 game..................till they downgraded it to Dx10.0 in a patch as it was giving trouble for Nvidia users.
Let's hope they've managed to implement it in FC2 without the same problem.

    uh no.

Oversight do not go to one sight and then think that is the end all of information and the only possibility of a fact.

The game is both dx 9 and dx10.

The changes in DX10.1 are so little, the user hardly noticed any differences at all, I would be extremly suprised to see better performance with DX10.1, since all it actually does it setting more rules for the Developer while slightly increasing the image quality by forcing 4xMSAA and allowing access to Multi-Sampled Depth Buffers.
It basicly standardizes features which are already in DX10.

Because of that, most game developers ignore it because, again, the user does not feel any difference.

Anyway, nice to see that they care for ATI users aswell! =)

Even if the GTX280 does get beaten it doesn't really matter. Both cards mentioned are so top of the range that they are both going to perform very very well.

Looks like the driver/hotfix is already out for ATI users! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

...and you were saying Jackalofdoom? Perhaps you misinterpretated the Thread title. Of course FC2 will support DX9 & DX10 but also DX10.1.

Yay! Something to support my Dx10.1 card! Now if I only wanted the game.

Maybe there'll be good user reviews of it, but I doubt it.

To bad I have had heating problems with 2 4870 X2 and had to send them back. Sticking with the GTX 280 for now.
