Thread: Skinning and Modding ...is it REALLY needed? | Forums

  1. #1
    I was wondering....

Games like MOH and COD give the players an opportunity for "Skinning" and "Modding" the games.
I (personally) feel that this will not be neccessary for this game.
I saw the (video) in which the creators were explaining the Games Historically accurate weapons, locations, and gameplay.
    But...
Can the game be "modified" for those who wish to Modify it?

    I was just wondering...

    Thanks is advance.

What are you talking about? Brothers in Arms is being made by Gearbox Software, they don't have any relation to Valve outside of developing Half Life for the PS2, and making the Opposing Force mod for HL.

There is a map editor, information on the extent or existance of a proper SDK has not been released.

In most senses it is not "necessary" to mod any game... ever. This game's engine and format would suit any number of theatre's and game types. One person may like to see the same game set in the WWII Pacific theatre. Another may want to recreate Korea or refit the game for a modern feel. Yet another person may want to create a sci-fi mod for the likes of Stargate, Star Trek or Warhammer 40k. Maybe even a good survival-horror game could be made from it.

Not that I care whether the game is easily modded. I'm in it for the game itself.

i think mods are a good idea. even though this game doesn't really look like it needs mods

still, if you think about it, games will always be modded. which i think is fine. i like mods because it also adds diversity to the gameplay. you could be playing a ww2 shooter, then you could go slaughter aliens or something
