Hey guys I posted this earlier but it didnt show up. Im used to FPS games but I'm really starting to like this sub sim stuff and I'm a very knowledged in WW2. So of course the combination of WW2 and a game made me excited. Anywho, I was wondering if you guys do like the "clan" thing like FPS gamers do? Cause I would love to get right into it with a bunch of good mates. Lemme know

There's not going to be that much excitement with 'Clanning" sub groups mainly coz..
    1) This sim is very limited in the amount of players on a single server.
    2) It's slow
    3) And probably most importantly, each kaptein is an individualist and relies on his own wit and cunning for survival.

You might be able to play a single mission online, but this might take all night.... Are you patient enough to do this??

Well that may be somewhat true; it is not all-encompassing.

The group I am in â€" Red Hour â€" plays FPS such as COD2, Raven Shield, and Counter Strike: Source, etc. The bread and butter of the group are shooters.

However there are several of us â€" six to be exact â€" that play Silent Hunter III two to three times a week online. MP can handle up to eight players, and we run many generated missions with random settings and we do not use unlimited torpedoes.

Also there are a couple of us that use the mission editor to create custom scenarios. One we are testing now that can play fairly well is called “Critical Massâ€Â, an engagement between a British and German BB group in the English Channel.

For the generated missions we usually start out close in to the enemy formation and discuss the attack on Ventrilo prior to any sub firing its first shot. We can usually go through three or four of these a night in a two hour period.

SH3 is a welcome change of pace from the standard lock and load affair that shooters can be.
