It's been a few years since i've played the silent hunter games but i've always been a fan. I have a couple of problems that might be stupid questions but i'd appreciate if anyone could help.

1) I can't accelerate the time to travel mode because I don't even have the option. when i view the manual it clearly shows the time choices next to the view button in the top right hand corner of the screen. however, it's not there when i play it. is there some option i need to check before it'll show up or something?

2) second, i'm having serious lag problems whenever i'm inside the boat and moving around in first person even with all of my graphics settings all the way down. however, using the periscope, viewing outside the sub, and even the viewing the ship meuseum are prefectly fine. i'm not a computer expert but i have windows 7 on a mac book pro (don't ask) and it far surpasses system requirements. any ideas?

1. The first mission is a tutorial. You MUST do each step it asks you to do in order and completely. Most of the UI is hidden until you do. When it says "plot a course to Kiel" it means TO Kiel, not "in the general direction of". Once you finish the first mission you'll get full UI.

2. Turn off Shadows and Anti-Aliasing. It looks like crap, but is smoother.

well now i feel stupid but cool that's one problem down.

i've literally turned EVERYTHING on graphics all the way down and STILL it lags. i have no idea what the problem is. i can play high quality graphics games like mass effect 2 no problem on my laptop but silent hunter's killing me. any suggestions on how i might be able to fix it?

This game is Very laggy for me when i first start the game , it is un playable , my system reqirements exceed the minimum to run this game all graphics are turned off and on the lowest settings possible , directx latest update , graphics latest updated , it plays all other high quality demand games with no problems and on full graphics ..

Any ideas ??

I had this problem and I did a couple of things that DRAMATICALLY improved it.

FIRST
==========

I have an NVIDIA graphics card.

I went to the NVIDIA control panel.
I went to Manage 3D settings
I went to Maxiumum Pre Rendered Frames
I set it to 0.

This made a huge improvement

SECOND

==========

I do not have a sound card per se...whatever is there is on the motherboard.

From within the game on options I turned down the 3d Channels to the minimum setting.

Again, this made a difference... not as big as the first one but a huge difference.

Please let me know here if this worked for you.

yeah i tried what you said and i think i notice a slight change but otherwise it's still unbelievably laggy.

it's worse whenever i'm in the first person view anywhere in the dock or in the u-boat.

like i said i'm able to play any other high demand graphics games on my laptop but SH for some reason is being a *****. any other ideas?
