Thread: Some Suggestions for Balancing Gadgets | Forums

  1. #1
    1. GPS shouldnt be available in multiplayer.

    2. C4 needs to be downgraded, it is currently overpowered and ppl just chuck C4 around instead of using their guns. I suggest that in order to plant C4, the player needs to holster/sling their gun, bring out the C4, PLANT IT (not throw it), and then shoulder the gun back. When one detonates the C4, it should require one to holster/sling the gun, take out the detonator and pull the trigger on the remote.

    3. Smoke is essentially useless because everybody magically has thermal vision. Instead of giving everybody thermal vision as a default, make it a smoke/thermal vision package that one picks as one of their gadget slots. In other words, if you pick smoke, you will have the thermal goggles. If you don't pick smoke, you will not have the thermal goggles. They should also slightly increase the 'fishbowl' image distortion while using the thermal goggles to balance it down.

    4. Similarly night vision goggles should be a gadget slot. The night vision needs to be improved however, because most ppl use the thermal goggles instead when it is dark. To make the night vision goggles more useful, the game should make the night vision clearer (it is currently too grainy). To further upgrade this NV option, make so that you can see laser beam hitting dust in the air (and make it so that you can't see the laser beam with naked eyes...see suggestion #4).

    4. When I switch on my laser on my gun, I should only see the dot that is on the target (I should NOT see the whole beam of light with my naked eyes). I nearly never use the laser in RB6 because the beam of light gives away my position...the visible beam of light is unrealistic and frankly is just to make it look Hollywood. I suggest that the beam of laser is invisible to everybody by naked eye vision, but can be seen with night vision as the laser hits the dust in the air.

    5. The frame rate suffers tremendously due to tear gas use. I suggest removing teargas from the multiplayer mode. That said, if tear gas is kept in MP, then tear gas+gas mask should be a package that is selected together and uses up ONE gadget slot.

    6. Make so your character closes eyes / shields eyes with forearm when you throw a flashbang.

RB6-Geek, we're on the same wavelength!

    1. What's GPS? Is the location of the player?

    2. C4 were basically controlled stickies, but realistically planting would be the right thing to do. They just want to speed up the pace on things.

    3. With the smoke I was thinking the exact same thing, get the player to think, when the smoke was obscuring they're vision, they should have switched to the night goggles.

    4. I think gadget slots are the right way to go, it's tried and tested - and works. It would be a fair thing to do in multiplayer as well as the main game it will definately balance things out. Just hope they don't revert to the COD way of leveling up.

    5. Lasers giving away your position, did that happen in earlier versions of rainbow? It's good, especially for stealth(which am hoping the final game will have).

    5. This game better run at 60 FPS.

    6. If your character doesn't shield they're eyes in time then they're vision will impaired for a long time. Tell you what would be cool if you sucessfully flash-bang a group it will disable they're headset communication between them online!

GPS was a device that scanned close by to reveal enemy positions in multiplayer. Also, this game wont run at 60fps.

Wow...nice list...As a PC player that prefers the hardcore style of the original 3 R6 games I agree with you.

I would also fix the instant grenade throwing that doesn't require you to lower or sling your gun. Put back in realistic grenade priming and throwing.

Thanks, Murph, but what makes you think it won't run at 60fps?

Also agree with the other guys it really is a good post!

Actually, if you view the "RB6P Technology" video that is on game informer, one of the devs mentioned (and i paraphrase) that they will try to make it 60 fps for multiplayer, but they admit it will probably be less than 60 fps for single player (b/c of the multiple bomb explosion data that the computer will have to generate).

I had an idea of allowing flashlights on hand guns but not on assault rifles or smg's, etc. in order to balance out close quarter combat. What do you think?
