Thread: 1946, keeping settings from old install? | Forums

  1. #1
OK so today I reinstalled my game --> 404m, but as so many servers have reverted to 407m tomorrow I'm getting it. However I've spent hours and hours on setting all the settings to their specific values, going through the conf.ini, updating drivers, creating df maps and above all, setting all the controls and joystick settings!

Is there any way to install the complete 46 DVD so that the conf.ini & all the other in-game settings wouldn't change, and will the missions still be compatible?

    Thanks,

Install the game into its' default folder and then just copy & paste your Users folder over from 4.04m. This will give you your pilot and stick settings.

There are other folders I copied over. Such as my Missions folder that has all of my paid addons and user made campaigns. My Paint Schemes folder. My samples folder because I made copies of the US speech folder and renamed them to the names of the other country's speech folders so I can understand what is being said when the tower calls headings and such. My records folder because I had allot of tracks from other m8s I wanted to save along with some training tracks from Joint-Ops. My RCU file because it had all my short cuts to the fr counter and changing icons in game. I even compared the conf files side by side and decided to copy over it to my 1946 game folder.

I haven't seemed to suffer any adverse affects from doing this as long as I was copying these folders from my FB install that was on the same HD as my 1946 game folder. I did however run into issues when I copied folders over to my 1946 game folder from my FB folder on my Western Digita HD. I decided to reformat my Seagate HD and 1946 ran without issues until I started copying FB game folders from my Western Digital HD. So if your FB install is on a seperate HD that is a different make than the HD your 1946 is installed on, bite the bullet and go through the slow process of getting it to where you want it without any help from copying and pasting from your FB folder.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
