Thread: Joining a game with an invite. | Forums

  1. #1
Hey guys. I'm totally new to this so forgive me. I was able to create my custom character and join a multi player match but when I got an invite from one of my friends and accepted the invite it gave me a message after loading that said "failed to joint invite" with no explanation why. Can somebody relate to this and offer a solution? I'm using an Xbox 360 and when I loaded up the game the first time I did do the update.

    Thank you.

If you're on a router, your router isn't compatable with his. Or if he's on a router it's not compatable with your. In other word network incompatability

Try resetting you router first. That can usually fix things temporarily. Make sure when you test your connection that your NAT is open not moderate or strict. And if it is moderate or strict then you'll need port forwarding for your 360. Go here http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm choose the router that you have then choose xbox live and rainbow six vegas and it will show you how that is done.

    Hope that helps.

This pretty much sums it up. But that isnr true in every case. sometimes if its really bad weather or if your downloadin something your connection wont be as strong.

My friend lives 15 houses down my street and i can usualy connect with him but his connection isnt the best in the world so when his computer gets adware or a virus i cant connect to him for ****.

Thanks a ton guys. I called Linksys last night and had them walk me through the port forwarding process and it should now work. I'll give it a try this weekend. Still I find it strange that I could get into an on-line match just not accept an invite. I get spoiled and just expect things to plug and play. Thanks again!

This happened to me a lot as well. The thing that worked for me was to set my xbox on the DMZ. That basicaly means that the router let's the XBOX bypass the router and act as if it is directly connected to the internet.

The other option and a way to find out if the router is the issue, is to connect your xbox directly to the modem. So straight to your cable modem or DSL router.

This will disconect any computers from the internet and you will only have your xbox connected.

If you direct connect like that and still can not connect to games, then it has nothing to do with your connection. (unless you don't have a working internet connection, which I hope you can figure out on your own )

Overall I have found that the xbox360 is rather picky about how your router is set up and what router you have. Make sure that your router is on the approved router list.

Hey again. Thanks for the advice. Can you go into more detail on how to set the xbox to "DMZ"? I did connect the xbox directly to the modem and it worked great, just not with the router. I'm very interested in what you were talking about SS-Mdinight. Thanks agian!

SS is right, forget port forwarding, DMZ resolves a whole host of connection related problems. Post your routers make and model and we'll see what we can do.

Check your router docs. Essentially, a DMZ will allow your Xbox to 'sit outside your router' allowing full access. If your router supports DMZ functionality, you won't have to deal with port forwarding, etc. You would just configure your router to enable your Xbox (usually defined by MAC address/IP address) as a DMZ device and you should be good to go.
