And to be honest, I don't want to know everything about the game. I want to be surprised when I'll play it.

I mean we are going to be able to turn on AA to make the jaggies go away right? There are games out there that prevent you from doing that, though most of them are console ports that weren't recoded to take advantage of what pc gpu's can do.

Luthier said his pc can handle CoD on highest settings with no aa over water (the last video) It cant however handle the same settings over land/populated areas.

And not having a better pc is due to the fact that the "uber" pc`s at the offices is more than likely to use quadras gpu`s wich as u all know, sucks in gaming. (Oleg pretty much confirmed this to be the case).

    Gunny,

Even though I will never drop my BlitzPig tags, it would be fun to fly together. BTW, I know my way around a 109 just fine. It is by far my preferred German ride.

But when we get to North Africa, well, you know what I'll be in...

Personally speaking, the P-40 could contend on an equal footing with all the types of Messerschmitts, almost to the end of 1943.

    wow.. super complex engine management/DM.
"rest assured that cooling, overheating, combat damage, or normal operation of our engines is as precise and as detailed as you'll ever see in any game in the next several years."

select your own type of round configuration!!!

About AI pilots: "reacts to damage and especially losses to other planes, and may decide to run for home even if his plane is intact. Whole formations of newbies may scatter and run if you shoot down their leader"
    ^WOW

Also the AI pilots wont fight till death anymore.. will actually break off fights, and will use real-world tactics!

    great insight from Ilya!

Uh...maybe he should get a new computer? I think a lot of people like me are curious about how it will run on our mid-range modern pc's with stuff like i7's and relatively decent graphics cards (GTX 460's or better etc), we don't care so much about how it will run on some cheap guy's pc from 5 years ago with a Pentium 4 and an outdated graphics card or whatever. Any idea what pc he is using?

I can be patient and see how the game turns out but really I'd say most people here at least have pc's similar to mine (and mine with an i7 is almost 2 years old now) and would like to see how it will run on pc's that are totally normal for pc gamers these days. It's nice that they are working hard on optimizing it but still.

Not sure what you mean by a "quadras" gpu.

I asked him what settings he was running (cause it looked very good in the vid) he said everything was on "high" or max or whatever without AA... but this is OVER WATER... he says cities drop FPS significantly.

you should be able to deduce with some amount of accuracy that a better CPU and a better card will sustain better FPSs, especially when scaled back a bit (not all maxed)

The fact that he was running maxed out AT ALL with that computer is enough for me to know that people shouldnt be so worried about how well their i7 8gig gtx580 rig will handle this game...

    you'll be fine.

EDIT: he also said that they are still optimizing the game. so it will probably run even better on his "old" comp after they get it to publishing.

IL-2 has AA support for crying out loud. Why do you think CoD wont?

Oleg and Co use low spec machines in order to make a baseline for optimization. If they developed on bleeding edge hardware, then only bleeding edge hardware would run the game!

And no, not that many people do have the latest hardware such as i7 and what-not.

I'm still running IL-2 on a machine with 1.7Ghz processors and 1GB of RAM, with Vista of all things (which alone has a minimum requirement of 1GB RAM, just you get an idea). I shouldn't be able to run a game like IL-2 at all.

So, I for one am totally thankful for the degree of optimization they made. Even CFS1 from 1998 doesn't run as well!

And be sure, CoD will still have enough to offer to bring any rig to its knees.
