Thread: Little clues? | Forums

Maybe in the development diary they gave as some clues about the factions that will be in hte game.

The more obvious aspect is that we are still in “high fantasy†world, ripe with valiant Human knights in shining armor, mysterious Elves lurking in the woods, savage Orc tribes raiding the frontiers, Undead armies gathering in the dark of the night, and all that good stuff.

So he says that ont he MM universe they will have Orcs,Elves and undead for sure, now the question is if its gfoing to be in this heroes or on the MM games.

Then, we decided to keep the Factions that made the Heroes line so popular. By “factionâ€Â, we mean the city / nation / race coalitions known to Heroes fans as Haven, Inferno, Academy, Dungeon, Stronghold, etc. Many of them will be back, some with a familiar aspect and “philosophyâ€Â, others with a bunch of surprises up their sleeves!

Here he gives us another options and I really think that they will be on the MM universe at least.

Now obviusy we cant really know wich towns will be in becuase he mentioned all the options but I really think that we can get some bases from here, he just mentioned some troops in the first parragraph and maybe the towns will be the ones on the second parragraph, Dungeon, Academy, Stronghold.

He also mention that they will have some shake up and have some surprise, and i think that some of them could be that the stronhold is going to be one of the shake up towns. I think they will make it something more natural, for example having the centaur, Berserk, Harpies from old stronhold and having some nature things as elves, and other nature units that could fit in and getting the nature cratures more form the old Rampart style than the H4 Nature town.

About the undead I think that they could be more like summons of the inferno town, or maybe because its a Haven vs Hell kinda war, in some places we could found undead as neutral units.

Leaving Chaos and academy sort of like they were and having the new town to be somehow a magic town that could be the counterpart of the new stronhold. I think this would also bring some balnce with the magic VS fighting in the game, as they already say, Haven wont focus so much on magic as in fighting, Inferno will be somewthing like Haven and Stronghld wont use to much magic as they have some of the NO magic old stronhold structure. And this will leave Academy, Dungeon and the new town with more magic focus than fichting abilities...

Maybe Im wrong with this but I really think that some of the things said on the dairy could help us know some new towns.....

Some off topic thing, look at what he said :
We will also expand the “known world†to include new Factions (5 are currently planned)

What??? they imagined 5 NEW factions? wow man thats imagination

Well, he mentioned all the alternatives from Heroes 4.. In HOMM 3, you also had the Tower, Conflux, Fortress, Necropolis, Rampart and Castle. I am aware that some of these were more or less replaced by HOMM 4 towns with different names, though.
Personally, I think the brand-new town will be something totally new, from their own imagination, and not a copy from earlier games. At least that's what I hope..

Right. Aaaand since the orcs probably won't be left out, where would they fit in? On the same team as the elves? I *hardly* think this combination would work.

About the undead I think that they could be more like summons of the inferno town, or maybe because its a Haven vs Hell kinda war, in some places we could found undead as neutral units.
I sincerely hope they won't be. With the undead as summons of the demons, you won't be far away from the controversial HOMM 4 mix of necropolis and inferno.

Leaving Chaos and academy sort of like they were and having the new town to be somehow a magic town that could be the counterpart of the new stronhold. Well, in Heroes 3, the counterpart of the Stronghold was the Fortress, the swamp town with creatures from Greek mythology and some mixed up ones. That could work, but we don't want too much copy from earlier games, do we?

How 'bout some sort of air town? You could have a mixture of Rocs, Genies, Harpies, maybe Wyverns in the absence of dragons... It could work! On the other hand, the stronghold could be a ground based faction, despising all the "foul, flying things."

    Anymore ideas, anyone?

I don't think that is the case... I really don't know if the Necros are going to be a playable faction or not. About the orcs... i can clearly see a LOTR aproach mixing the Dungeon and the Stronghold so we get a "Saruman & Uruk-Hai" clone (which in my opinion sounds promising). The elves, being the Sorceress forces, must have a faction of their own. And about the "new faction" i would not be surprise if we see a Gnome faction, or maybe a Dwarven one... i don't know really just guessing. The only thing i am sure will NOT be left out is the Sorceress, but for the rest of the factions the things are not clear yet. Dungeon, Stronghold, Necros & Tower all are very interesting factions and all deserve to be in but that is impossible... so maybe most will be in but NOT as playable factions then becoming playable in the expansion... don't really know, it's too early to guess yet... we need to know at least other 2 factions to try guess the las 2... guessing 4 is just TOO hard.

Yeah its too hard to guess four of the towns, the big problem is that they always talk about the MM universe and not only about the Heroes universe......

I really wont like the srtonghold and dungeon mix, not becuase its not good, its just that dungeon is my favourite town adn if that happens it means that dungeon wont be at least on the expansion but it sound preety possible.

Did you saw when he says that they have 5 FIVE new factions for the MM and magic universe? This makes me think about the concept for NEW they are using. Its very hard to imagine One good Heroes town and they have FIVE?????? I think New for them is A big mix of old ones with some new creatures
