Ok, I really love the map editor, and I'm pretty darn good at it too. Thats the only reason Im actually here still, and the only reason I bought the game. No editor, no deal.

Anyway, the other end of mapping, the MP, is just crap IMO.

The servers are still buggy as heck even after 2 patches.

We all get discon FROM UBI after waiting 20 min for a decent match.

Fire seems to ruin some people's servers.

People cant D/L maps unless they leave and come back to any given server multiple times.

PB continuously is a problem, but not the direct fault of the Dev team.

Most servers dont like to run maps that are not stupid BS tree outdoorsy nature hike maps.
Many other servers run maps that apparently took about 2 hours tops to make and require little to no skill or thought to produce.

Everyone fears hackers to the point of paranoia since PB does nothing at all to catch the real cheaters.

I just fired up 15 servers to test; only 9 stayed active beyond the login. All others instantly crashed. (NO NOT MY HARDWARE)

I cant even delete maps from my profile. It seems everyone else in the world can, but I get a stupid 'internal" error message every time. WTF

Maps published to Ubi and proven to be good files by many players D/Ling them from Ubi suddenly turns into an empty 1kb file not even classified as a FC2 map, yet comes from their server. (TOTAL BS)

Search function has gone to crap, especially recently added.

Hosting a simple match is an overcomplicated mess. I just played 007 Quantum of Solace, and hosted right through a wireless router connection, no ports specifically opened, no BS to go through before I play. Just click and go. I also host TF2, HL2 and L4D servers on a wired connection through my IP I specifically pay for for running these servers. Again, just click and go. But no, not FC2.

Hmmm what else did I miss? Im sure theres tons more.

Now there will surley be naysayers who claim that everything is just perfect on their end and they somehow miraculously recoded the game so it works right.

No. Dont bother, dont try. Im not listening.

Like i said, I really like the map editor, and the SP seemed ok from what I played (about 40% or so) Also, a few servers DO run good maps.

So, for anyone out there wanting to fight about my OPINION, dont try. I dont mean that every single map out there sux and i dont mean that every server blows too.


I guess I am supposed to be one of the lucky ones, because the game actually makes it beyond the splash screen on my rig. Also, I can actually host with a degree of success if it were not for crap hardware and crap programming on Ubi's end.

So, sorry Devs. I love the game and hate it so much all at the same time.

Ok, a Tango rant to follow yours then...

Well kev, the biggest bugs that need fixing in the server ASAP are stability bugs, the fire bug and the server console input being limited to 128 chars bug. (I'd LOVE to get MORE options in ranked too, not being tied to what the devs decided for me. I'd ALSO love to be able to RESTRICT WEAPONS. Ever tried a pistols match and had to kick 10 noobs? I have. I'd HATE everything to change syntax again as I finally have written a program to run the server for me, which deals with a lot of the shortcomings.)

That there are lots of people who like to make, serve and play ******ed maps is something we can't get away from tho. We will have to live with that and believe in natural selection taking its course. The horde of empty or near-empty wrongly configged nonadmined servers on lousy connections will eventually die out, and outfits like yours and wgc will still be there.

Same thing goes with the cheater accusers. Actually PB does a good job of keeping the real cheaters away, the only few times I've actually seen cheats are ppl who run on their own servers. But there will still be noobs who come to the conclusion that you cheat because you are better at this than they are. I get kicked from most non-friend/non-clan servers on sight nowadays, and lots of people claim that "they know!" I hacked. Well grow up & get better is all I can say. I don't hack.

Wow you guys still playing this game?

My rant, great game with crapy server/pb/suport and population. I stuck around more then some but enough was enough. Had a great time while i was playing with most of you but its time to move on.

Americas Army 3 is out among other very nice titles as well as upcoming GREAT titles (BF1943, BFBC2, COD-MW2), so to all you guys fustrated with this game just put it away and get back your enjoyment of gaming in games that produce.

Well. My server's about full and plays about 40 games a day it seems, according to the logs. Yes it's a great game, yes it could have been less buggy. But I'm sticking with this game until I'm done with it. And I aint by far.

Thats ridiculous, and I dont even see how people keep playing this game.

Alas. Things are bad when valued members of the community begin to turn on the game. I could possibly be over-rating you there kevin .
I too am regretably losing patience with the game.
It's such a shame because this is my first FPS and has got me deep into the gaming class.

I haven't shut down yet, and I was going to cut 2 servers then only cut one. However, I am really tired of this kind of stuff, If its not one thing, its another. More pop up as time goes on, like the diacovery of the 128 character limit on the setsetting map cycle and all of the direct console input.

The sad thing is, some of us are real die-hards and refuse to give up. I may be one of them, coming here ranting continuously lol

It really is a shame.

This game could be SO GREAT!... but it fails in so many vital areas.

My server has experienced the fire-bug a few times today, and it's so frustrating. A quad-core on 4GB RAM, on a T1 hub, and something as silly as someone throwing one-too-many molotov's crashes the whole thing, spoiling it for everyone.

Not withstanding I still haven't gotten a reply from either Even Balance or Ubi on why PB kicks with a "heartbeats" error after 1 match. No one even seems to have heard of that error message.


It's such a shame... I don't like horror games, and I don't like military games...so it kind of leaves me with just Far Cry 2... but it's unbearably difficult.

Ubi... I don't know what to say anymore. Try harder.
