Only been playing for a couple of days on original Myst. My son and I are totally hooked but every time I try to use the rotation control at the top of the elevator the game crashes. Any ideas???? I've searched the last 5 pages of questions and couldn't find anything similar.

    1) Clean your CD with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab. It might be difficult to read for some reason.

    2) What version of QuickTime is installed on your computer? The original Myst wants the version on the Myst CD or a not-too-much-later version. You might have to uninstall the later version and install the Myst version to get through the entire game.

Hi, thanks for the tips. Tried cleaning and quicktime is fine. Actually just finished the game tonight. Had to use a spoiler to get the code for that section unfortunately but everything else worked fine. I'm totally hooked. A friend has Riven so I'm hankering to start the next game. Dare say I'll be back!!! I never thought at 35 I'd find myself sitting up till 3am playing games and neglecting housework to beat my son. (We have ongoing battles to see who gets thru the games first). I usually give up thru boredom. Not this time
