Thread: Career Mode with Choices; or a Movie Script to Follow | Forums

  1. #1
I raised this idea in the Top 10 Patches Thread and thought it deserved its own thread for discussion. What if GRAW had a robust and linear career mode rather than a dramatic (soap opera like) story line. A career mode that allowed you choices such as: random order and types of missions that you can either accept or not; a currency, and with that, the ability purchase weapons, vehicles and ghost team members - throughout your career. Basically, you would be playing as yourself and not a prefabricated character with a movie script for missions. ITS TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW. Your thoughts please.

Of course it would be for a later build. I think gamers that like the concept (of random)would need to begin talking about it early - like now. I can't believe I'm the only one tired of the movie script. If I want a movie, I'll watch (not play) one. Perhaps the game could be opened up a little, be more free-flowing and open ended.

I like the ideas from the top post. It harkens back to the old R6 days when you picked your team for their abilities. Outfit each member with totally different equip depending on his/her needs. Having a choice of missions would be cool also as I'm sure they would have a fictional second team to take the mission you don't.

Exactly. Also, it forces you as the "Captain" to discern between what may be certain death for you and/or your team mates. In the end, it adds another layer of strategy that was originally there in a lesser form.

So kinda RPG style, you are sent into a country and have to fix some problem. While you are there a series of problems come up. You get to chose the one you want to deal with first second third.... RPGish but still GR

I like the idea but sounds weird to me that you purchase weapons when you are a Spec Ops inside a warzone, I like the idea more of like getting medals, and stuff like in CFS3, something with that context, of course you can buy things but more un necesary things and not so basic as guns.

    IMHO

You mean a MMOFPS..(Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter)

I personally feel that almost all major future online games will go down this path, where its its own world as it were.

Perhaps the weapon/equipment or vehicle purchases could be seen more as supplies for your crew - necessary. And of course you would not have to buy the same item twice - unless you destroyed it in battle. However, payment for your team would be necessary per misssion. For instance: more skilled soldiers would cost more; specialist like snipers or demolition guys would cost even more. So on and so on.

Yeah - sort of like that. I just wonder if anyone (like Ubi) has considered that the whole dramatic movie script approach has pretty much taken its course. How much of a RPG it should be is difficult - as you could easily slip back into a movie script. In the end: there should be away to have the same game play with linear and open ended decision-making.
