    Hi,

    I tried the trial server(s) for the first time yesterday (1st May 2006) and here's my humble feedback...

    1. The new maps are great, creative and nicely put together - it's about time UBI added some more. However I did notice that some of the (distant) scenery didn't render too well, particularly on streets and graveyard.

    2. The gameplay and in game notifications are good - it's nice to see the killing spree ended results, but why not have the running total kill by kill? I also like the anti team kill measures but have yet to see them actually kick someone for low neg score or too many team kills. (Personally I'm fed up the latest bunch of tk'ers - there is one in particular (who also occasionally uses a false clan tag)and anyone who is using the regular servers should know who he is - any methods of sorting this out would be appreciated!)

    3. Why are non- ascii names not allowed? You can't enter with any clan tag that uses them...

    4. The servers were quite busy Monday daytime but by the evening they had dried up. I Hope more people start to use them and they become standard.

    Strange, no one else has mentioned this before. Did you by any chance, as you are obviously a clan player, have your settings on low?

    The ascii characters can cause issues with lag etc, thats why there are not allowed.

    Thanks for posting as promised, we had some really good games yesterday

    1. I would have to defer to Clivey here...

    2. The idea was to keep the number of broadcast messages down to reduce lag. ATM only flag touches and saves are broadcast, along with the end of spree one. I think though would have to check that the spree is broadcast for each kill from 6 upwards. Team killers; well maybe the word is getting round. You saw I had to kick one idiot yesterday for reapeatedly shooting teamates, dropping bombs in the spawn and standing in front of the jeeps etc... If the other one you mention is the one I know of he and a couple of others are banned from these servers already. Ironically for hacking How lame can you get where you need a hack to TK?

Exactly what Clivey said; you will see that in the code of conduct we are trying to make them a nicer place to play the game, sadly that means no extended characters Now that the GLSSM is doing a good job and we have nunmber of in game admins, I am considering reducing the PB kick to 0 mins to reduce the inconvienience...

    4. Thats Ironic, usually they are empty in the day and pick up late evening. Think it was the bank holiday that helped... Hopefully they will get used more as new players find DLs for the map packs and as fair experienced players choose them as the server of choice...

    I found the mentioned lag on the maps also strange, because with these maps i have about the least lag trouble i can get - only with very full servers on specific times (like saterdaynights) i often have lag trouble, but that does apply for me to all maps and almost all servers.

    BTW I remember vaguely a short discussion about lag caused by customobjects (present in streets and graveyard) for low-end videocards. Do you have a low-end videocard Sweaty?

    Please do some players use modes for the els ladder or something and are kicked for 3 min

    Server is just fine hardly any lag, hd is sometimes gone but éhéh thats fc. The new maps are really good. Tker's wont go to the server anymore thank god. Less cheating + more bans always nice.

    Cant wait untill all ubi server are like the trial servers.

    Hi all, thanks for the responses.

    Regearding the lag my settings were on medium and yea, my graphics card could probably do with updating (GE 6600) but I don't notice and problems on other servers, or on the old maps on the trial server. I'll be back on soon (work & g/f permitting and muck about with my settings. It's worth noting that although the rendering wasn't great the lag (or lack of it) was much better than the standard servers - my max ping was 23 and went as low as 16.

    What is the timeline to rollout the changes to all the servers?

    I don't get any probs on graveyard or streets and we have played them a lot with full servers

    @ Cuz, we run messages for killing spree from 4 onwards, end of killing spree, headshot, tk, flag touch, flag save, flag cap and our server copes fine with it mate, maybe it would be worth trialling this on the trial server?
