    sounds like a non pro. the pros core is 380 mem is 340 efective 680(normally 378/337.5 real)

    Yes it would be better than a 9600XT, and no 256-bit doesn't stand for the graphics. The memory interface for the 9800 Pro is 256 bit compared to the 128 bit memory interface of the 9600. A higher memory interface means higher memory bandwidth.
