Thread: This Game is terrible! | Forums

  1. #1
Further to my last post. I was only about half an hour into the game when I delivered my preliminary analysis, which, looking back wasn't singing Ubisoft/Darkworks's praises. Now - after about an hour and a half of gameplay, I have given up. The disc has been returned to the box. Luckily I kept the receipt. This game is one of the worst 3rd person adventures ever, second only the the dreadful Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness. It is impossible to control. Imagine you're trying to negotiate your way through an environment without a map (there's one in the manual but where's the fun in having to pause the game every few minutes to check where you are against a lacklustre schematic that you cant bring up in game?)and zombies are coming at you from all angles. The finicky controls mean you haven't got a chance to aim at them or even line them up in your sights before they're upon you. In your panic you try to get away, only the controls won't respond as well as a game of this type demands. Oh, and don't think about trying to step on an exocel's body if you're near a door, chances are you'll open the door, trigger an annoying loading sequence and emerge back out in the hall you had no intention of going to at all. If you get stuck in what I call the load/die/load/die scenario but know that the dead body in the room had a vital health pack in it from before the last time you died, check again: it's turned to pistol clips or even nothing at all. The creators obviously thought randomising the pickups would add to the game's replay value, but it just makes it more frustrating the next time you load your last save('cos you died)and need that vital health pack only to discover it's no longer available to you.
Hansen walks like he's got something stuck up his behind and needs to hold on to it by taking silly little [effeminite] steps. It's really quite ridiculous to observe. If you decide to move him with the auto-aim on (so that most of the over-the-shoulder view is observed), then it looks like he's just gliding across a surface.
Should I go on? I could, but i won't. American gamers - do not, under any circumstances buy this game. Im in Ireland and I paid fifty euro for it, which I hope to exchange for Resy 4 next week. I hope I can save a lot of hassle for a lot of you guys (and gals). Its quite literally one of the worst games ever made. I had high hopes for it and it was ruined by a sub-standard control system.

Dont worry i want be buying it. Im from orlando,fl and it will be a rental like i said in my other post. I knew a game like this backed with such a large company should have gotten far more coverage than it has. Im not surprised at all how poor the marketing has been on this game because obviously the game isnt that good.

Ive seen the pretty good reviews but who know, maybe the websites were paid off to give such good reviews.

There are plenty of things that make this game good.

The alleged control problems are non-existant. I spent the whole time I was playing through this game praising the controls and blasting guys in the face. I'm really surprised by the negative responses this game has received. It deserves much more positivity.

    Hi Everyone,

My first post for a while, got sick of the FarCry forums! ha ha ha.

I probably won't be buying it either, from what I've heard its not going to have a true FPS perspective eg: looking at the world out of the eyes of the main character. I can't handle 3rd person points of view in a shooting game, there's something not quite right about it, like its just unnatural.
