Here is what you were looking for.......
These are the numeric requirements for player medals based on reknown earned from patrols. I'm not sure if there are other requirements, such as total tonnage or previous medals awarded. I'm also not sure if the reknown requirements are based upon current total or career total.
Iron Cross, 2nd Class - 3,000 Reknown
Iron Cross, 1st Class - 6,000 Reknown
Knight's Cross - 10,000 Reknown
Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves - 15,000 Reknown
Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords - 20,000 Reknown
Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds - 25,000 Reknown
All - 30,000 Reknown ?I figure this means you will have been awarded every medal if you reach this point?

Cool! Thanks so very much for you help Bob! But I have got well over 30,000 renown and I did not get any of the other medals.

im playing my firast full campaign, i started sept 1st 1939, its april 1941, and ive gone on 14 patrols
ihave ALL, repeat, ALL the medals
i was very suprised
i have the full ritter kreuz, oak leaves, sowrds, diamonds, and i just got promoted
but to be fair im only at 44% realism, since it is my first full campaign
Smart ar**. I hate you! I hate you! I'm a little further on and only have about half of them. And I'm at 30% easy level.
Just modify your Basic.cfg file located in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg to get more realistic awards. Just double or triple the higher award values and you should be about right.

I was having the same problem, Doing lots of patrols but only a couple of medals in my medal case. I was ending my patrols after using up my fish by hitting the esc and jumping back to port. I found as soon as i sailed back to port and got within a few miles of home and got the message after hiting the esc of docking that after a few more good patols my medal case filled up. Hope this helps....
