Thread: ATI Radeon X800 | Forums

Hey everyone, I've decided to upgrade to a ATI X800 XL. Currently I have a ATI X300 SE. I'm wondering if there are any issues with this particular card and FarCry. Also for the X800 owners out there, what settings are you running for FarCry?

    Thanks,

    cesjr

I don't know if you mean all X800 categories, but I'll respond anyway.

I'm running the Gigabyte X800XT Platinum, all settings maxed, including AA level 2, and AF level 4.

The extra juice of the XT helps I think, particularly in the use of higher AF settings, which really eliminates most of the terrain blur when sneeking through the jungle.

The AF level 4 setting has made long hours of gaming much easier, with a lot less eyestrain.

If I were you I would consider at least the Pro level, and perhaps OC it, provided you know how. Video cards are much easier to OC than motherboards.

I'm not even sure of the differences between the Pro, XT, and XL. I tried searching ATI's website, but I couldn't find the answer.

As long as you have a CPU comparable to mine, you can maxed out every single detail in the game and run it @ 4xAA and 16xAF. I used to have an x800pro with the 4 pipelines unlocked running at 520/540 and i was able to pla the game exceptionnally smooth at 1280x1024. You shouldn't have any problems running the game. As i understand it the x800XL is based on the r480 architecture i.e. x850, but is clocked at 450/500.
