    Check out: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/silent-hunt...html?fromint=1

They write" .....Not surprisingly, missions require you to destroy boats. Specifically, you'll be required to sink a certain tonnage of enemy vessels......

    NO !! !!

What is the dev team thinking ??

I sure hope Gamespy is wrong on this !

    There was also some useful bits of info;

" One Ubisoft developer claimed the stars at night are so realistic you'd be able to navigate by them. "

But as we all know by now that will be limited to when you in your patrol zone, so how much this will be used is debatable.

They have also released some system specs

"Ubisoft recommends at least a 2.0 gigahertz processor with either a Radeon 8500 or a GeForce 3 under the hood, with minimum processor speed of 1.2 gigahertz. "

    Thanks for the link

NOOOOOOOOOOO. I can't believe that they insist on including those STUPID, UNREALISTIC tonnage/specific vessel requirements to progress from mission to mission. If this is true, perhaps they should re-evaluate the subsim that this one is based on....Silent Hunter....in which had no STUPID AND UNREALISTIC requirements to progress during the campaign. Either you returned to base alive and with as much tonnage as you could sink and possibly get promoted/receive a medal/receive a new command, or you returned to base empty handed and got a good chewing out by your superiors and went on to the next mission/patrol. Well what is this??? Silent Hunter is still being played to this day. If the SH3 campaign is similar to the Silent Hunter campaign, in which it has been referenced to, why do they include "tonnage requirements" to proceed to the next mission? As far as I can tell, the open-endedness of the Silent Hunter campaign didn't distract the newcomers to the genre, as it's still being played to this day. I sincerely hope Gamespy meant that the "tonnage requirements" are what BdU would like for you to meet, and not for us to actually meet. What if we are supposed to "sink 15,000 tons" of enemy shipping and we manage to sink 10,000 tons and sustain major damage to our u-boat but make it back to base with all of our crew alive? Does this constitute a failure of the mission requiring us to start over?? If it does, then it's STUPID. If I'm wrong, please forgive me. But if this is how it's gonna be, then hopefully they'll make the sim open ended enough for the community to change this.

Well, maybe since the sim is still in alpha, the developers will visit this board and see our complaints and change things...although it appears our cries for a truly dynamic campaign have not been heard...it shouldn't be too hard to change mission objectives this early...for me personally, I can accept the automated transit to the assigned patrol zone, because I myself did/do the same thing in AOD, SH1 and SH2. But those stupid tonnage requirements for each mission to be completed have to go. IT IS NOT REALISTIC, IN A SIM THAT SUPPOSEDLY IS HISTORICALLY BASED.

A ****, hey UBI ( i mean the Ubi name in the forum ) say to the dev team thta we all hate the idea that u must reach a limit of tonnage that the mission end. I hate it so much in SH2, and thats really B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T! F.u.c.k of this Campage i really hat it so much. Why cant they do it like CAOD????? Stupid??? Not surprisingly, missions require you to destroy boats. Specifically, you'll be required to sink a certain tonnage of enemy vessels. That makes merchant boats especially attractive targets, as they were in the actual war. However, it's a sure thing those high-value targets will also be protected by corvettes with a wide range of weaponry developed just for killing U-boats.

As you progress through the game, your crew (assuming they survive) will become more experienced and efficient in their jobs. The missions you're provided and your resources will also depend on how well you do as a U-boat commander. Do your job well and you'll be rewarded with better subs and experimental weaponry like acoustic torpedoes. Do your job poorly, and you'll find yourself depressingly short on your precious torpedoes.

I think you will be given orders to sink X amount of tonnage and if you do
you will be rewarded and if you fail, nothing for you. i agree it would be
better to leave this out,but i guess its a game and they want to make you
stride for more. I poor patrol will really piss you off and you'll be sure
to try alot harder next time. There is no way you'll have to repeat the mission, what the hell would be the point on the complex crew system if you
have to win ever battle.sometimes things go very wrong, welcome to the Atlantic and you'll pay the price for failure.I think were all very worried
because of the past sub sim SH2,UBI has put out top quality games FarCry and
IL-2 FB come to mind,so i'm sure SH3 will be a top sim. "see you on the pond"
