Nothing against you guys. I love you guys.

What I mean is that the architecture, format, appearance and everything else about this forum is so much worse than the other half dozen other places I visit. The search page sucks, the forum is slow, options are limited, etc. etc. I know, I'm ****ing. This was the first forum I visited regularly, and now, 7 years later, it is just so far behind the others.

Any chance of an upgrade? Are all the ubi forums this bad?

Probably not. Good forum software costs money. Ubi doesn't seem to care about this side of the business (aside from "fraggirls" )

But speaking as someone that has done this since 1994, this is a damn sight better than we had back then.
Can you imagine if this was a threaded BBS? Ugh.

Um, I think you are confusing the content with the container, Huggy.

What use is a brilliant search engine if everything it finds is 'c**p'?

Anyway, IL-2 is dated, both in terms of the period it models, and in reality. So for that matter are some of the forum members, possibly including myself.

Each of the various IL-2 forums has it's own character, but all of them have their uses (though there's one I wouldn't recommend to minors ). In its way, the Ubi forum works, so don't 'fix' it.

Having said that, the search engine couldn't find its own rear end in a phonebox...

Soon there'll be a mass exodus from this forum once SOW comes out.

If the admins have any brains at all, they'll just migrate this into "SoW General" or somesuch. This has established traffic. I doubt Ubi would just discard it.

Um, partial quote. I'm 'dated' myself, as I pointed out. Anyway, there are no 'modern' air combat sims: there hasn't been any significant air combat for decades, as far as I'm aware, if you exclude lobbing missiles BVR. THe 'modern' sims are fiction.

Ubisoft are unlikely to be publishing SoW:BoB. Why should they support it?

Really? Did I miss something? I mean, I haven't been paying that close attention since Oleg hasn't been releasing much info in the last couple of years, but I sort of assumed that he already had a publishing deal secured.

Ubi would make sense for that role. If Ubi's not publishing... well, I have some worries. Ubi's basically the only big publisher willing to take a chance on sims. If Oleg's forced to self publish... I'll have nightmares of Eagle Dynamics.

Oleg has indeed left the building. He was last seen here years ago - I believe one of his last posts was in praise of the Westland Whirlwind. But I digress. I note with interest he seems to have learned from his experiences here and has set himself up on another forum with a buffer zone between himself and potential whining asshats who played no small part in driving him away from here and seeing the demise of the 'Oleg's Ready Room' forum.

I know about the "yellow forum" and I don't blame him for his migration.

But is it confirmed that SoW won't be published by Ubi?
