Thread: Hard Drive Keeps Running | Forums

  1. #1
I can get the game loaded up fine, but my hard drive keeps starting and stopping in short bursts. Every time it does so, my game frezzes for a second. The result is very jerky movement. Occasionally the HD will stop for awhile and I have a great frame rate and graphics with no jerkyness. Is there any way to stop the HD from the repetitive accessing and the associates jerkyness?

Thanks in advance for any tip!

How much ram do you have in your rig? Sounds like you're low on ram and the game is using virtual memory a lot and causing the stuttering. With this game in particular you need a LOT of ram. Win 98se needs 512mb and XP needs a lot more (most people get best results with 1 gig). Either that or your system isn't optimized to efficiently use the ram you do have.

I had the same issues trying to run on high settings with just 512 megs of ram. Went to one gig and all is good now. Maggot is exactly correct.
