Thread: lava room-pernickety control - enough is enough! | Forums

  1. #1
I've throughly explored the lava room and control room. Drained the lava, returned the lava. Moved the gear rod to the left and back again. But I cannot now avtivate the lever in the control room. It will not complete its swing. I've tried all combinations of clicks and moves for up to a very long half hour over several days. This must be the worst user interface I've met in an otherwise superb series of games.

    1. is there any work around for this please?

    2. now that I've understood (I think ) the series of moves necessary to get the hot air to the ship, given that I can overcome the problem at 1. in which room, lava/control, is the fan control please?

The fan control is in the lower room. If you have not been down there yet that is your next goal. Empty the lava from the top control and then enter the lower door. There you will find another red knob that is also quite tricky to manage. The bridge like platform must be raised twice, among other things. Good luck.

Thanks BobF. Now I know where the fan control is. But, back to problem #1. The control knob in the control room really doesn't want to know.

I haven't played for a while but as I remember it the red knob in the upper level will only go around. Click and with a slight motion out and up and the program will take over. It isn't something you can force. So you will just be starting the motion and then let the program take over. I hope this helps.

Oooooh! How I hate that stupid knob! Bob is right on, Jim. You need to click on the knob, start it in the direction you want, then release it. If it can go that way it will, if not it will drop back to where it started.

I always thought the control lever in the upper room was a breeze compared to the one in the lower room. Even with the screen locked (caps lock down) it wouldn't stay still. Never had that problem anywhere else in Exile.

the upper control room isnt so important as the main lava room. drain the lava using the upper room, then go down into the lower room. here theres a control like in the main room, except its stick cna move across. the trick is to get it to move up twice. just a hint, the gear can be used on both sides of the platform u stand on. when u get up, u need to turn on the fan. hope that didnt make it too easy for u, tho hoped it helped

Yep. Well, thankyou to all replies, plus the e-mails to confirm the exact sequence of events. The trouble is that evrey single combination of click and directional move will not budge the control room knob to perform. It will move to its limit and then return. As I said, all combos of click and move are to no avail even with screen freeze or full mobility. The thought of a game restart only to meet this again is unthinkable. Any last ideas anyone before I go off to play tiddlywinks?

Do you really have to restart the game of MystIII?

How did you get to the lava room? Have you somehow gotten there from a wrong saved game?

If you have several saved games could you go back and try another start of the voltaic age?

I don't know, I am just tossing in some possible options.

Have you cleaned your CD's with isopropyl alcohol. You may have a proplem with a dirty CD.
