Thread: can't find the game i saved | Forums

  1. #1
Me and my GF was playing some homm5 yesterday and after a couple of hours we saved the game and turned the computer off. Today we tried to load the game but we were not able to find it (?) We played one of the 2vx maps i've downloaded from this site, if that should have anything to do with it. kinda annoying wasting 6-7 hours for nothing :/

We played hot-seat, is it possible to accually save hot-seat games and find 'em again?

First off what game version you have? Australian one by any chance?
The maps can't do any harm, it's the game that doesn't save.
Are you running the game as the adminstrator (main user) of the computer?

I'm from sweden, so i don't think it's an australian version i'm playing at. I ain't using any kind of users on my computer, meaning there's only one user on this computer. I tried to search for the file without any luck aswell.

EDIT: The weird part is that when i click save game again, i can see the game i saved, but i can't find it in the load game section :S

    Ok.
1st off did you have the demo installed when your installed the game by any chance?
2nd look in My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles\"your user name"\saves if there are files such as:
    save_0.sav,save_1.sav, etc....
If they are there it means the game doesn't read them right.
What can you do to try to solve this:
    - if you got the demo uninstall it.
    - if you don't, make a backup of the homm5 dir in \my docs\my games\ (move it somewhere else) and uninstall then reinstall the game.

Btw is you my docs folder and your my games folder named like this?
My Documents\My Games or translated into sweden or something?

So, after writing my reply to you, me and my GF decided to start a new game, and so we did. after playing about 2 weeks (ingame of :P) she had to leave for a coupl of hours, so we decided to have the game running 'till she got here again. After a few minutes i just forgot about it and thought i should try save game again, and guess what, when i've entered save game, the old save is there :S I was like "WTF?", and i checked the load game section aswell, and there was our old game.

it seems loading games from the main meny ain't working, but loading when i'm inside hot-seat works :S

to answer your questions: No, never ever tried the homm5 demo. yup, the save files are in my documents/my games/profiles/XivioN/saves.

XivioN, I had the same problem. Though it could be for different reasons.

I couldn't find my save game for a hotseat I was playing with my girlfriend.

Later I discovered that she made a new profile with her name. Turns out the game saves to profiles, so you have to change to the profile of the game you saved in order to access it.

Again, not sure if it is the same problem as you. Just thought I'd chime in...
