No, believe me, you don't wish you had a credit card!! I have so many I don't even know where they all are. Some are still in the original envelope they were sent in and most of them have never had the activation sticker pulled of them. Thankfully I only have about $10,000.00US that I owe in credit cards right now, so my debt is still manageable. But debt can get away from you easily if you are not careful!! Try to avoid charging things on credit cards if and when you get them. And try to owe no more than one tenth of your annual income at any one time.
Even better rule of thumb is less than one twentieth of your annual salary.
I hear you on this. The new ATI 4800 series rocks: Tom's Hardware has their review up today for it and it corrects all the major problems (AA/textures) that their 3800/2800 had. I would have ordered one already if I had not just got a 8800gt a few weeks ago (though the deal I got was really sweet for a dual slot cooler).
As for credit, avoid it; it can become a nasty habit! My wife and I only use credit cards as charge cards; every month our balance is paid in full. My advise: only make purchases when money is available to pay it off right away (of course, there are emergencies where this cannot apply). It takes some discipline but in the end you'll save lots (and lots) of money.

I guess I should have said, "I wish I had a bit of extra cash floating around to dump into PayPal"
Im still wondering if my mobo will support it though...
This is why i don`t use credit cards either. In the early years, debt was encouraged and I got into it for various reasons (nothing like 10000 though!). It`s a true pain in a life that would be wonderful otherwise.. We don`t need all these `things`. If you can`t afford it, save up. Use cash.Originally posted by mortoma:

Longer answer:
It will work, but that board only has a PCI-E x4 slot, and the 4850 can use x16, so you won't be able to get the full performance that the 4850 is capable of.
Also, depending on what CPU you have, that could also limit the 4850. In fact, depending on your CPU, you might not even be getting all that the X1950 is capable of, if your CPU is on the lower end.
My CPU is a C2D 6400 (2.13 ghz) I think it wont be a real bottleneck, plus I have 2gb ddr2 667 ram
Hope that helps
In my excitement I missed your question. Try contacting a 4850 vendor's customer service. The 4850 is pci-e 16x 2.0 and it may not work properly in that 4x graphics slot of your mobo, and even if it did it would be a considerable waste of its capability. IMO if you really want to make this card a worthwhile upgrade, you should consider a new mobo as well. Your CPU and RAM are decent enough.

The 2x versions of the 4850 and the 4870 will also be out soon.

1. What kind of debt is NOT Manageable? Geez .. $10gs ... are you serious?
2. 1/20th? I have 3 Credit cards and the amount owing is zilch. I never use them for an amount I can't physically payoff immediately from my Bank Account.
Me thinks people need to cut theirs up .. just saying![]()
