When I was in the Air Force we had one that we sang, it was a not too clean version of Three German Soldiers Crossed the Rhine. It is sung to the tune of Mademoiselle from Armentieres,
Parlez-vous.

Here's another pair for you.
Little Boxes
Scarlet Ribbons
Very nice representation for the "Folk" category. I have to thumb through my collection to see what I've got. I really haven't covered too mnay groups from that genre.
In the meantime, I've been listening to some Richard Marx:

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Wow, never heard of Bloodrock nor any of their music. Not exactly what I'd call a catchy tune, from my perspective that is.![]()
Sincerely though, do you really listen to that stuff? It sounds like such a depressing, hopeless, song. I prefer a more positive approach to the songs I listen to:

-Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV84)
That's an old song. From about 1968 or 69 as I remember.
It blew a lot of people away. Some stations banned it, at least for a while.
I had forgotten about it until the other night when someone said "DOA" in a show I was watching. I figured it was a long shot that it would be on YouTube, but there it was.
Kind of puts a damper on the old party.![]()
I just found them in Wikipedia, which places them in the early 70s. Interesting that Wiki says they were a considerably successful band. In all my lifetime, I have never heard anyone play their music, at parties, on a personal stereo or on any radio.![]()
Oh well, I'm sure you remember these guys:

On Top Of Old Smoky, nice one swamprat69er.
How about some Pete Seeger?
This is live in Australia during his 1963 world tour:

A recently inspired selection, starring Johnny Depp and Faye Dunaway:
