    Ahh, The Doors, one of my favorite groups. Did you know that Jim Morrison was the son of a U.S. Navy Admiral and a prodigy of the Literary Arts? It is alleged that one of his English teachers once commented, "I felt that Jim was the only one in the class who read Ulysses, and understood it."

    Like Elvis, there are some who refuse to believe that Morrison is actually dead, that his overdose was feigned. Amazing, the belief's that some choose to cling to.

    @Celeon:
    Great song, Break On Through.

    Right back at you, fellow Doors fan:

    Do you know what the closing phrase, "stronger than dirt" is referring to? Both the words and the melody is indicative of something peculiar to that era.

    I have to admit : No, dont know what that refers to.

    You'll surely have noticed that this is the uncut version of "Break on through"

    The Ed Sullivan Show recording to be precise where they urged the Doors to leave that "high" of "She get high" out and they agreed right away.

    Of course, once they were live, Jim sung it four times in a row instead of just three and the "high !" was extra loud and long each time.

    @pnwdom:
    Yes indeed.
    Around that same time, the Ajax Company put out a series of commercials featuring a knight in shining armor and riding a white horse. Every one of those commercials featured that "Stronger Than Dirt" jingle. Incidentally, my second full time job out of High School involved digging ditches for a large utility company. At that time, I purchased a personalized T-shirt with the words "Stronger Than Dirt" printed across my (at that time) rather broad weightlifter's chest.
    I looked like a walking billboard at the time.

    @Celeon:
    Typical of Jim Morrison's rebellious attitude, and in connection with my reply to pnwdom, that reference to the "Stronger Than Dirt" Ajax commercial was also a deliberate stab that was directed at either his agent or an advertising firm that was embroiled with Jim Morrison over his refusal to allow one of The Doors' songs to be used in a commercial.

    I don't remember all the exact details since it was so very long ago, but it was typical of Morrison to flaunt his rebelliousness through his music. Just as he did with the Ed Sullivan show.

    Wonderful Wernher, I nearly posted this Croce Classic meself! I thought his lesser known songs
    (that I feel are just as good) should be posted. Alot of people who know of Croce and his popular songs may have never heard the ones I posted.

    Imagine what he would be producing today if not for his untimely death.

    I didn't know he had any lesser known songs.
