It's a quiet evening so I thought I'd sit down and do a bit more. I've started adding the details from the Nautilus Models etch:

This is the front of the conning tower. You can see the rails on the gun deck and the handrails round the waist.

Here's the view from the other end. The stanchions are really, really thin and the pre-moulded holesin the deck far too large, so some light filling will need to be done. I'm still looking for the mono-filament to do the handrails with. There's a few more rils to do, then the radio antenna stands. I'm trying to decide whether to do the replacement ladder rungs on theside of the conning tower. Even more fiddly than the stanchions!

    It's looking good Mush.

I was wondering, Maybe a good small gauge fly fishing line might work for the railings. It's not easy to see the holes in the stanchions in your shots there, so I can't judge.

Yeah, try some 2# fly fishing tippet material.

Looks great! Those stations are about 1/4" high with no holes to use I believe. Here's some photo etch ones that could work, but there's only an upper hole. http://www.modelexpo-online.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe Also another kit to spend you hard earned bucks on. http://www.modelexpo-online.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe Gak! It was $269 this summer on special.
