Reguardless, if LO:MAC is sending and/or recieving data through an unussual conduit, it would be good for us to be told about it now, rather than find out about it later, when someone figures out how to do damage with it.

It's happened to at least one game I used to play heavily, and it could easily happen again. That one took over a month for people to figure out what was going on. It turned out some port or another had been left open in the game, and it was possible to, I believe, execute buffer over runs, to run code on people's machines. I was just some old, undocumented connection port, that Dynamix hadn't bothered to tell anyone about, before the company got reorganised into oblivion.

It caused a lot of grief, and nearly finished that game off.

After a recent game crash during multiplayer, I got looking at the Windows system error and noticed that the conflict was with Mail.dll, located in the main Lock On folder.

I can't think of any reason why lomac would need to do anything with mail while I'm in the middle of a multiplayer flight, unless it is used for chat messages. I'm just wondering if I need to turn on the old packet sniffer and take a closer look?

Hello Smitty, I've got an idea to perhaps solve your problem:
About Window and the report error.....you can do something, download XP Anti spy, and desinstall th e apllication for error sending message..... for critical error, you've got the choice, it's up to you.

Well then at a guess it has something to do with Lock-On doesn't it? Possible a .dll that Lock-On needs per chance?

After all as the saying goes "whats in a name?" simply because something is called something that sounds like email doesn't necessarily mean all your credit card details are being sent to Al Quaeda.

Just think about it sensibly, why on earth would ED, who in all fairness seem to have enough trouble just programming what they're meant to be programming, get involved with an international conspiracy to find out which pr0n sites you'd been visiting last night?

You seriously must have too much time on your hands......and thats coming from me who is a sys/network admin so spends a lot of time worrying about security.

.. while we're on the topic of your finances, you need to make another payment to your citibank credit card and I noticed in your tax return that you've put through $450 as expenses accrued from the Smoking Bunny Hole Gentleman's Club... I don't know if this is actually a valid expense..

Also on page 4 you forgot to carry the 10, which has messed up your deductions by 5%..

    just trying to help

    Hey smitty...

I have that Vindows error reporting off too but I don't think that matter...Bill Gates' lil OS Still does what it wants too.. the ratbasterd! Check to see what services you have set to auto.

I still think an error log is created reguardless. More then likely its using whatever the required data structure... Maybe this part of the error handling API. It just so hard to say with Mircosoft products since it has built into itâ's very core spyware.

I think if you a program accessing the mapi.dll then that might be something to worry about since vindows is trying to access mail functions. Like someone above saidâ... try getting some anti spy software to see if you have some ad bug on your system. I would look at that before Lock ON.

I would check some of the services you have running also, to see if the issues is there somewhere.
XP has a lot of waste in it.. also check your network connection manager. There might be something odd going on there.

Again vindows can not be trusted... especially if the OS can start services automatically.

Hopefully in the future there will be a better OS that allows us to get away from the foul seed of Microsoft...

Please people! This has nothing to do with error reporting. My system is clean and I have error reporting (and the service) disabled. The issue is:

    1) There is a file name mail.dll in the LockOn folder. This alone seems a little suspicious.
    2) LockOn accesses it during multiplayer sessions.
    3) We can't get a legitimate response as to the purpose and function of this file.

I don't at all want to sound like a conspiracy theorist - I'm sure it's totally benign. Still, I think ED owes us an explanation.

    1) How the hell a file may be suspicious? First of all, if someone would like to steal information from your computer, he would certainly not name the evil file "Trojan", "email", "filetosendeveryinformationabouttheuser.dll" and it would not be located in the main folder. Secondly, the name itself doesn't tell anything.

    2) Did you disassemble the file and have information to support your opinion? Did you tried to scan the TX traffic and analyze the content of packets? Did you find your credit card number in it? Or you just started another pointless and unsupported discussion based only on your beliefs and stereotypes?

    3) No one should tell you the purpose of any kind of file. It's called the closed programming architecture. However no one stops you to discover it by your self.

And remember, in this life, no one owes you anything if not otherwise stated in the court verdict.

    Best Regards
