Thread: I have a dream! | Forums

Disclaimer: This is hypotethical, please do not take it seriously.

Ok so there is absolutely no information on the PC version save for little tid bits of info from gaming mags, which are console centric (Game Informer, Play etc.) and thus really shouldn't be counted on for PC info. Since they, like Ubi could care less.

NOTE: This section best read while listening to the Rogue Spear theme music (http://billbrownmusic.com/musicG1.htm)

I have a theory on the PC version, that differs from the current bleak theory. My theory is that Rainbow-Six 4 for the PC is in the early stages of development at RSE (or some Ubi studio), and has no resemblance (save for some graphical resemblances) to the console versions. That it will be a R6 game like any other. It will have a planning phase, a full armory of weapons/ attachments and gadgets. It will have all the characters we know (including the unnamed briefing lady), it will have the 4 fire teams we expect and it will finally have good AI.

Why would Ubi want to keep something this good secret? Who knows, but E3 my hope is they'll announce a new Rainbow-Six title for the PC. That shocases everything that Rainbow-Six has come to be, and that it will have a proper Rainbow-Six name.

Rainbow Six: Renegade Serpent, coming this winter to PCs everywhere. (well ok not that corny, but you get the idea "RS: RS". The classic naming convention).

Sound crazy? Well a man can dream can't he?

    Indeed!

Well said. And yes, track #11 from the original Rainbow Six is, and has been for years, the one piece of music I always come back to. It is without a doubt, a classic.

If you haven't heard it before, do a search for #11... you won't be dissapointed. (and actually, now that I think of it, it might be right on the disc itself, track 11, not sure)

The music in Rainbow 6 and Rogue Spear was so good. Hearing those songs again makes me want to reinstall them again.

No! It must have a proper name! Call me a purist, but if the title doesn't follow RS: RS. Then the name just ain't right.

The exception being expansion packs, those never followed suit right from Eagle Watch.

I dont think that sounds crazy at all. In fact it sounds realistic. Up till now all the rainbow six games were very different from PC to Console. The Rainbow six games on the console have been more arcade while the PC version was a deeper more tactical game. I see no reason why that would change now. The devs have abviously discoverd that the PC players differes from the console players. Thats probably why a different team is working on the PC game.

Well, it may be time they breakaway from the RS naming sceme as we are donw to 'Randy Swede' and the like

I for one would welcome a complete refocus of the R6 franchise on the PC. Hopefully RSE can take the time now that GR2 is out of the way and re-revolutionize tatical shooters much like they did with the original release. Realistically I have CC:FTF and SWAT4 for good tatical shooters throught the winter and spring. Even if R6-PC is a ways off, I welcome it if it means a re-focus on the tatical part of shooter. Rethink AI, team tatics, everything. I dream of a tatical shooter where my tatical thinking make or break the mission, not making plans that cover for AI weaknesses, etc.

Well not to flame but they were addons to existing games, ie:
    Rainbow Six Covert Ops Essentials
Rogue Spear: Mission Pack Urban ops
    Rogue Spear: Black Thorn
Even the Korean game was Rainbow Six: Take Down
Where Life had no meaning, death sometimes, had it's price. That is why the Bounty Hunters appeared.

then I read Gieger post this:

It will not be a direct port, it will be tuned to the PC audience and that's all I can say about it for now.

This could be good. I watched the R6:LD console video and the one thing I saw was the AI moving much better than it ever did in RvS. They cleared rooms and actually spread out and pushed the corners instead of standing in the doorway. Another time a AI teammate was covering down an alley way and shoulder checked behind him. Looks way better than RvS ever played.
