Hello people,

I recently started playing Far Cry 2 again to see if I can get a 100% game.

When I was clearing one of the early missions that ends up with you having to destroy the Special Forces Team's gear in that little village southeast from Pala (Mokuba) as you can see in the screenshots, I ran into this on my GPS in the vehicle I was using: http://img864.imageshack.us/im.../7932/12diamonds.png

You can see the icon "12 diamonds" there on top of that mountain, and when I turn, go around, do whatever: The icon is fixed there. It turns with me but stays in that location.

(P.S. on the last screenshot it seems like it shows it in the top left of the map in my hands as if that's my current amount of diamonds but it's not I have more at the moment. Seems weird)

I've spent a good hour trying to get on top of that mountain (it's rather large to go around all the way) but there's no way up without glitching through the floor, I'm certain of it.

Does anyone know what the heck that is? :P

That tells you that there are 12 diamonds to be found in that map section. Each section (9 North, 9 South) has this info in the left upper corner of the map.

It also shows up in the GPS whenever you are in the left upper corner of the map.

I'm wondering now though, what do you mean by 9 north and 9 south? is each map section 3x3?

Sorry I'm really not familiar with the way FC2 maps work since I haven't finished the game the first time and wasn't all serious but just having fun.

If you could help me with that, I'd appreciate that

A few of the diamonds can be found if you learn to fly!! Here I am heading for one such diamond drop, just hangin' around!!

A copy of elbmek's pic shows a dugout log ( canoe ) circled in yellow. All thru the game there are these dugouts and they signify that there is something to look for and you are close to it.Usually diamonds, maybe a safehouse or a guard post.Sometimes you really have to figure out just how to get to the diamond/diamonds just as this move elbmek is making by flying the glider as there is no other way to get this diamond( at least without a cheat ).

The red arrow in pic is the diamond location with wall so straight up you can not climb them.

normally you are right but in this particular case this is a ladder that has been 'thrown to the ground'. And, when I first came years all those yonks ago, you would not believe how long I spent trying to move it!

Sorry my bad.
It is so far out of focus that I did think it was the canoe. There are a couple more with the ladder on the ground. One comes to mind on the ground ( diamond high up ) very close to a desert road with a billboard and a wrecked car where another diamond is very close by. ( Southern map )

The FC2 dev's put quite a few clues into this game. Also if you have a 5.1 sound system and a very good sound card there are lots of different sound clues.

What I can not figure out is that most of the places I need to go to, when I almost get there, up in the sky those big birds are circleing. Don't know if they are a sign as to the target I'm looking for or they just are nutty birds flying in circles. But they are almost at every site you need to go to.

No idea about the birds, tried shooting them, they do not even notice.

As to location, if you look at my shot again, the Outpost in Act 2 is behind me, behind that again is the billboard and car you mentioned. Behind that is the imprenetrable cliff which I managed to climb - once! From the other side.
