When I right-clicked on it, then clicked "Open Image In New Tab", the URL read "Myst-tree." (When all else fails, cheat!)

I'll try to do a basic summary based on all the work, research, and digging everyone in the community has done. (Feel free to add anything I've forgotten.)

On January 8th, someone calling themselves Twigg on various forums, started five new discussion threads and posted five little images... one on the MystCommunity forums, one at UruObsession, one on DPWR, one here in this forum (see above), and one on the D'ni Guild forums.

Tracing the images back to their online source, each filename was determined and it was realized that each pic represented a letter. And, the host site www.myst-tree.com was discovered.

Each little image was determined to be from one of the Myst games. And, when placed in chronological order (not order of release) the word PRIDE was spelled.

This led the online detectives to PRIDE.GIF


It was realized that the number FIVE was important. Each of the little jpeg files showed part of an arabic number 5 or a D'ni number 5. (P.jpg shows a 5 from the power gauges in Myst that power the spaceship. R.jpg shows part of a D'ni 5 on the floor of the "beetle" chamber in Riven. I.jpg shows part of a D'ni 5 on the Riven book in Exile. D.jpg shows a number 5 from Sirrus' notes in Spire. E.jpg seems to show a D'ni 5 from the base of the rotating "pillars" in the Kadish Gallery in the City in Uru.)

On Myst-Tree.com, Twigg posted:

This symbol (sci.gif) seemed to be another reference to the number 5 -- the same rotating pillar from Uru that e.jpg shows has three circles which we know to represent the number 5 (-- remember the Kadish vault combination).

Someone came up with the D'ni word for FIVE which is "vaht" and sure enough, Twigg indicated HERE the the puzzle had been solved. (People spent a fair number of hours trying to find hidden pages on Myst-Tree.com with their solutions.)

Unfortunately, no one yet seems to know the significance of the strange symbol named pride.gif.

It seems that Twigg, after posting on Jan. 8th, 9th, and 10th, will rest a little while and let us fret impatiently for more...

Well - is Something Else, Myst V (as has been announced) or is Something Else - something else entirely?? I hope the latter....

Hey, I'm noticing something here...
In the poem, it mentions how it has been a year since we journeyed to the island in the clouds, and then talks about "freed a Bahro" and "witnessed the lies and pride of D'ni"- these are all Uru references. I think that SE may be Uru II, or else the fabled third expansion pack. It certainly seems that something Uru-related is going on. The real question, then, is this: can we really trust Yeesha? She is powerful indeed- but is she too powerful? And how will the resurrected Kadish play into all of this?
It is this that I believe further Uru games may be centered around- the choice of who to follow- who is lying, who is telling the truth, and who should be set free.

I've just noticed something from the obsession pages- there is apparently a Riven book in Exile- what exactly is that all about? Easter egg, or what?
