Thread: Editing the Views? | Forums

  1. #1
I have a Saitek X-45 and usually set my views up to work off of hat one, but I use the AUX. 1 three position switch, Joy but. 12 postion the hat is the flat level views, in Joy but. 13 position the hat pans the UP views and in the Joy but. 14 position hat one pans the Down Views.

I can configure those views with the numpad buttons and get multiple keys to get a single function, is it possible to edit a inf or ini file to set the Joy But. # and Hat 1 Number to use my normal view setup, and avoid constantly clearing my normal level hat views at the same time.

Must be late, I'm struggling to follow you here.

Mind you, not using my X45 (and having only used the throttle in the past anyway) it's pretty easy to lose me!

Have you seen this section in C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\Users\your pilot name\settings.ini?

    [HotKey SnapView]
    NumPad-4=Snap_m2_0
    NumPad-3=Snap_3_0
    NumPad-2=Snap_0_m2
    NumPad-1=Snap_m3_0

    Pov135 JoystickPov0=Snap_3_0
    Pov180 JoystickPov0=Snap_0_m1

    Pov45 JoystickPov0=PanRight
    NumPad-8=PanUp
    NumPad-7=PanLeft
    NumPad-6=PanRight2
    NumPad-5=PanReset

Following the above it should be relatively easy for you to get your mappings, if you modify the settings file then be sure to back it up first!

On the throttle there is an AUX.1 three position switch and a M1 M2 M3 three position swtich.

What I want to do is use the AUX 1 three position switch which activates Joy But 12, 13, and 14 in Pacific fighter, with Hat 0,45,90,135,180,-135,-90,-45, etc..

So AUX. 1, 12 and HAT 1 -45 is look forward right.

But AUX. 1, 13 is HAT 1 -45 is look up forward right,

    and
AUX. 1, 14 is HAT 1 -45 is look down forward right.

Like numpad 5 numpad 7 is look up right.

No, I'm getting lag playing offline, so I try to limit what's running in the background. I'm trying to do it via the IL2/PF configs.

    Lag offline?
Post your Dxdiag, we may be able to help.

The SST software doesn't eat that much by way of resources and, IMHO, is essential to do what you want.

You can assign keyboard keys to your hat, that way you can do pretty much what you want.

You can probably do nearly what you want without using SST, but if you do use SST there's a much better way.

    Without SST:
Assign DX13 to LookUp and DX14 to LookDown. When two view buttons are pressed at the same time, the game looks half way between, so when the Aux is sending DX13 and the hat is forward/right, the game will look forward/right/up. The problem is you'll have to switch the Aux button back to the DX12 position to look forward again.

    With SST:
Assign the Hat switch to Mouse emulation and another button to "Look forward". Use the hat to pan to any view you want and the other button to snap back to straight ahead. It'll take about a week to get used to, but it's much better in the long run IMHO.

One warning: The AUX switch is "Held Down". If you're going to use SST software, be careful about assigning keyboard commands to that switch. If you don't use "Advanced Commands" or "Macros" when assigning controls, the key assigned acts like a stuck keyboard key and can cause some strange side effects.
