Game crashes on startup | Forums

So I installed the game after I got my new computer. But when I try to start up the game, the screen with the two main characters pops up but then it just crashes with a error message =/
I tried opening the game without updating it, didn't work then I tried the 1.4 complete patch still a error =/

My computer is a

-Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
2 Gig ram
Radeon X1950 XTX DDR4 version

Yeah, I have the exact same problem, though for me, the game ran at first launch, then it crashed when loading a map, and after that, it crashes directly when it's launched(only displays the splash image)..
Happens both with, and without the newest patch (1.4)

If you are like me then it will work with lighting not at very high. Or more precisely, bump mapping not at very high. This sucks though because without it you cannot run HDR.
