I have a 26.5" monitor at 1920x1200 and the games graphical resolution is set to that but there is a black strip at the top and bottom of my screen like a widescreen movie. Is there a way to remove this. Just bugs me is all.

the games are done for a aspect ratio of 16:9 due to the consoles so when you play on a 16:10 ratio PC monitor you get black bars.

So there is no alternate way to change the ratio or anything to get rid of the bars?

That was the way since the first AC. It's designed to be played at 16:9 res.

not unless you dropped to 1080p but then you would probably get a slightly stretched picture.

I use a 16:10 ratio monitor and yes I also have black bars at the top and bottom, I believe it is called letterboxing. As said, the game is designed for 16:9 ratio, I don't know what the problem is with making it available in 16:10, other games do, but this is beyond my knowledge, also the previous AC1 and AC2 had this, I remember there being a application that stretched to stop the letterboxing for AC2, but I have no idea if it is allowed or not by Ubisoft, maybe Ubisoft could be kind enough to code such an app and release it? I personally don't mind the letterboxing, but people who bought true wide screen monitors will want to see true wide screen monitors...
