Thread: modding and skins - HAWX 2 on the PC | Forums

1. #11
I have just purchased HAWX2 on the PC, taken home and installed. The first thing I did was to have a look in the PAK files and this is a list of the playable planes. Obviously the PAK file is encrypted, but you can still see the contents but not actually extract them.

As you can see the Korean and Vietnam War DLCs are on the disk already (in Red and Yellow respectively), as is the new Russian stealth fighter the PAK-FA.

Playable planes in HAWX 2:
A-10 Thunderbolt II
AC-130 Spectre gunship
Mirage 2000
Mirage F1
Mirage IV
Rafale M
EA-6B Prowler
EF-111 Raven
Eurofighter Typhoon
F-117 Nighthawk
F-14A Tomcat
F-15C Eagle
F-16C Fighting Falcon
F-35 Lightning II
F-4E Phantom II
F-86 Sabre
F-18E Super Hornet
FA-22 Raptor
Harrier GR9
MiG-15 ***ot
MiG-21 Fishbed
MiG-23 Flogger
MiG-25 Foxbat
MiG-29 Fulcrum
MiG-31 Foxhound
MiG-MFI
Mitsubishi F-2
Saab Grippen
Su-25 Frogfoot
Su-27 Flanker
Su-30 Flanker C
Su-34 Fullback
Su-35 Super Flanker
Su-37 Terminator
Su-47 Berkut
PAK-FA
UAV
Osprey

I am wondering how easy it would be to import in the missing Viggen and Draken from HAWX 1.

I have been into the HAWX2 data files and switched the Typhoon skin in the training mission to the 2nd available skin, plus an embelishment of my own.

I have done this just to show it can be done

I can also see what skins are included for each plane but will not divulge this info or spoil your fun.

A quick note...it would appear that the same texture files from HAWX1 are being used for some planes in HAWX2.

However after testing the F-16 it would appear HAWX1 skins do not fit HAWX2 planes as the models are slightly different. There is a worrying amount of mirroring evident on the F-16 now.

I think they DID change the models quite a bit, especially noticeable in F-22...

but I'm glad to see that the skins still work, so with some time, it's quite possible to import all HAWX1 skins into the second *those with same planes that is* and also quite easy to make new ones

I'm excited to see everyone's work. The first skin look great husker.

I'm fairly certain most, if not all of the plane models have been changed. Some might be minor, but I don't think any of them are the same. Notice how nozzles actually move now? Awesome. It bothers me that unused hard points are not removed, especially when one requires stealth.

Hmm, I'm missing a handful of skins still, one of which I think is not available through any codes. So I was certain there would be more DLC, and with that a few more jets. I guess no more jets though.

My first request is the PAK-FA paint from it's first flight. You know, the dark greyish color and the highlighter. Hmm, if I'm not mistaken it's actual paint is not represented in the game either. It's kinda just a primer grey in the game.

Anyone feel like modding in the BlackWidow II?

I'm going to start unlocking the planes in game first as at the moment there is no profile mod to use. As I unlock them I will check to see if HAWX1 skins work (which I hope they do).

I'll keep you posted and once I have it straight in my head I'll share how to get access to the texture files. I dont want a ban for sharing info too early or spoil peoples fun.

My request:
F-22A Antares Skin

When you make the video make sure you use the Ace Combat:Joint Assault Theme "IN THE ZONE"

Edit:Oh! I also need someone to make a Ace Combat 1 scheme.

Obviously its going to come up a million times, so I'll just say it. Make the AC-130U actually flyable. I think I saw a B-2 flying around in the mix once or twice too. If I get my computer fixed, maybe I will get a PC version also. In better times.

It's funny how companies used to name video games. Like Air Combat. Yeah, that's what it is, very too the point. I had a NES game called Ice Hockey. I was really hoping that for AC: Brotherhood, Ubi was going to go with Assassin's Creed II II. Hmmm, Assassin's Creed II 2. lol.

I think husker only does real world skins, but others' might show up and get things going for you. Did you take a picture of your screen, then photoshop the picture? Looks good if that is what you did for your requests. Would a clear skin be possible? That would be weird.
